Girly Maternity Clothes

Postby Guest » Tue Feb 10, 2009 7:48 pm

Am I the only person in the world who wants to wear skirts and dresses when I’m pregnant ? There’s hardly anything about, nothing but endless pairs of jeans !

Certainly not, quite appart from being far more compfortable, there is nothing more feminine that being pregnant so why on earth would you not want to wear grily clothes, mind you I am terribly girly anyway and loath wearing pants so... Anyway there are femanine maternity clothes out there but I agree other than tents they are much harder to find

So true, it never occured to me how hard it would be when I was pregnant, I thought it would be easy, but for every one maternity skirt or dress ther must be 10 pairs of jeans / trousers. I found that most of the dresses tend to be for formal not everyday and the skirts are often just to short esp over a bump (I have a toddler as well so I need a little longer especially when playing with him). Just look at the M & S website 13 trousers 2 dresses and they're really tunics they're so short ! Try JoJo Mama Bebe and Blooming Marvellous, they have quite a few nice things.

Like you I hardly ever wear trousers, (I much prefer skirts and my husband is not keen on me wearing them) I know I'm in the minority, but the one time you would think all women would want to feel feminine is when they are pregnant ! If for no other reason than comfort, a dress with a full slip and maternity tights is by far the most comfortable, thing you can wear, not much around the waist / bump easy to move in and by far the most forgiving.

I guess that being pretty small to begin with i can allways get a larger size in normal clothes and take them in, and for that matter that i can afford to have alterations done. Mind you i have developed a new found gratitude for my sowing classes at school

Yes it wierd when your pregers you already feel really frumpy and unattractive and then the shops want you to look like a workman in jeans and combats !

When you are pregnant you look like a woman - there's no disguising it so why not at least try to look pretty and a cheer yourself up a bit.

It's also a fact that skirts and especially dresses are a whole lot more comfortable !

I wore dresses from H&M, they do really summer dresses and plan on buying more when I get pregnant again.

I agree, although i did eventually manage to find some nice dresses and some practical dresses and skirts most shops seem to assume you want to wear nothing but hidious maternity jeans.

Its hard enough to feel good about how you look when your pregnant without looking like a workman and i'm obviously not the only one who would rather wear skirts - so come on shops !

Well, It is not necessary to wear trendy clothes. But you should feel comfortable and material is also important in maternity clothes. Avoid wearing a black neutral colour. I recommend to buy the organic clothing which are made of natural fabric cotton.
