Vista has an XP "rollback" function, but I've forgotten how it's supposed to work. (I don't have Vista, so I haven't tried it.)

If I knew how to do that, I'd get shot of vista, it's rubbish, when I upload pics I can't just upload them simply, it has an annoying sign saying "Allow". I can't even see my pics in the folder anymore, they have images of trees on them all.

I had that several times, after I NUKED the OS by using CMDiskCleaner's Registry cleaner, and by removing too much OS stuff with Uninstaller's PowerClean... It sounds like you've destroyed that OS by doing things in it that you shouldn't, like removing the screen saver and desktop themes.. or an uninstalled AVS, or something, took out some critical OS files... Did you know that some OS pix files carry some of the OS operating programs..?

You can try to repair it piece by piece, but it'll never work proper again... In that case I'd try to save my pix on CD's, notes, bookmarks, favorites.. on floppies.. format C.. pull the battery for ten minutes, make sure there is zero dust inside the tower, and reload everything... starting with fdisk...

By any chance, did you uninstall Kaperski, PC Shield, node32, or Symantec AVS..? without making a backup?.. Do you run Erunt backup utility..?

Before you create CD's or floppies you need to run an AVS scan to make sure the hd is free of bugs... And run Spybot S&D too...

I did remove the screen saver, I haven't tried removing anything incase I knacker my machine, but prefer XP, it just works without any hassle, aprt from WMP. My software is always crashing too, waste of money.

Mirrorball you must have gotten one of the machines with a "vista ready" sticker on it .That can barely run vista basic ( no arrow desktop) with vista home on it .
You do know there is a class action lawsuit because of this .
Vista needs a Minimum , bare Minimum, of 2 gig's of ram .4gig's is the max but vista can only use 3.3 to 3.72 gig's of the 4 gigs .
And REQUIRES a hard drive with a min. of 512 meg to 1 gig of built in ssd flash ram ( a special drive) and a min of a 2.3 ghz cpu 3.7 is better or a dual/quad core is best

"My software is always crashing too"...

I had that all the time in W98se, and W2K.. till I removed macromedia and shockwave... I think that 90% of the W98 and 2K crashes are caused by macromedia advertising softwares... That software has its claws into pretty much everything in the OS, and when it's running, and you try to interrupt its thing, it crashes your OS...

I just use i-tunes to re format to mp3. That doesnt work for tracks dowloaded from msn but once ive got a cd full of them I burn them then re-rip them to pc and then use i-tunes to convert them.
Your opinion is wrong.

Yeah!.. more and more I'm seeing that most of the audio software rips only from CD as its uploading to the PC.. but I found a few that claim they rip from what's in the hd...

My big thing in making music CD's, is I would like to eliminate the insane applauding... To me applauding, "clapping of the hands to make loud noise", is like seals clapping their flippers together and "ooHk-oohking", as an alternative, and or an accompaniment, to shitting themselves on the spot from overload emotional incontinence...

I would like to rip out the parts of the music that "smell like shitt" to me...

It's looking as if a snot-nosed mummy's-boy segment in the music industry is offering free music codes and free music processing softwares that are infected with trojans and PC OS-killing worms...

One must AVS scan all the downloads to be safe... I had some downloads destroy this PC's OS, but I haven't been able to determine which one did it, and I ain't about to try it again to find out... And they call "stealing music illegal"... They're just part of the Internet disease...

I'll stick to the clean softwares the good Linux people offer...

you do know that " to make things easer" MS media player will " auto install" the codec for the video or music from the web site specified in the video/audio container ( .avi,wmf/asf ,...) without telling you .However i think that was to a " click yes to install" in wmp 8 or 9

I'm concerned about microsoft's tentacles in my PC when I'm running any Windows product... Microsoft gives the feel that "big bother is watching" every breath I take, sniffing every fart I make, and has the ability to enter my PC's OS, and damage it at will... I've got MPlayer, and MSPlayer, and full Nero, installed, but I don't like that softwares can contact the Net on their own, unfiltered by my rules... I suppose nothing in my hd is secret when it's connected to the Web... I'm still wondering what's the "ten packets sent, and the three packets received when I boot the PC..? when I've got Tiny Personal Firewall blocking almost everything from connecting to the Net.. and am running through this router.. and I don't surff the Net in PC.. The old iMac is for that... But then I don't have any secrets in my PC's hd... It's just that it would be nice to own a little privacy in this helter skelter world... just a little pipe-dream of mine...

OK, so now I've got my favorite 150 songs on the hd... now how do I gets them into the mp3'er so I can hear my music without the need of this pain in the butt portable CD player, filling my pocket, and forever eating up its batteries.? A CD just doesn't fit into this tiny mp3, even folded ten times...

OK, I gotta convert the tunes to mp3 somehow, from whatever they are, but all these softwares can't seem to do it... Bring up MPlayer, and click "load", but where are the 150 songs..? YusH!.. I need someone to show me how it's done.. I've wasted hours trying to get these things working.. and the CD player is just a big pain in the butt and wallet battery eater..
