Okay, I went to google what Pitt's rep saiud, exactly. I didn't find it, but I found this hilarious blogpiece from June 2010. How it got missed it, I don't know (or maybe it didn't, maybe I just missed it!). Anyway, we are not the only ones who see the misery on Pitt's face (although the meme of Jolie's beauty was marching on even two years ago):

"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not a happy couple. It’s not rocket science. It started as a torrid affair and blossomed into a very ugly thing. Sorry. that is my complete honest opinion. I don’t have any ill will towards either of them and they are both incredible actors who are among the best in their industry. They have also both been voted the “Sexiest Alive” this, “Most Beautiful” the other and “World’s Sexiest” whatever, multiple times over. The problem is that every time you see Brad Pitt’s face in a current photo, it screams “Someone save me.”

Yes, there are multiple photos of the couple happy and ecstatic, but hey, prescription drugs are available to everyone. Brad Pitt is trapped in a relationship with a very beautiful woman that he simply doesn’t love. And now he’s even more cemented in with multiple children that would prove to be very costly to run from. One of which (Shiloh) desperately wants to be a boy according to Vanity Fair’s latest interview with Jolie. Are we really making an issue of a child that is having an identity crisis in that household? How any of them have their head screwed on straight is beyond me. This includes Brad who jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

In the interview, Jolie also mentions that the two of them don’t feel any need to get married because it feels like they already are. I’m going to cry wolf here and wager a bet that Pitt doesn’t want to get married because it will cost a lot more when he finally finds his package and walks into the sunset.

Surely I can’t be the only one who sees the strain of a bad relationship gone very, very bad. Angelina puts on a good face, but she is a loon. Brad Pitt doesn’t love her. I just can’t see it in his face. I even strive to find it. Not there. Empty like a cave of woe. I just think that he got his wires crossed during their affair and as he was running away, he realized that he left his heart with Jennifer Aniston.

It’s like getting to the airport late and realizing that you left your luggage at home but you can’t go back and get it. You still go on the trip, but new clothes are very expensive and they don’t fit like the ones you had. And you can’t wait to get back to your stuff again and resume life as normal, but you’ve bought way too many clothes and all of them are non-refundable. So you just cancel your flight back and keep buying clothes. hm. sad."

So, I have a question. Something that has been bothering me. I've read all the accounts of Brad's disappearance and all his wedding denials and I agree that something's up. But I am puzzled over the the fact that his rep flat out confirmed the engagement: "yes, the engagement is confirmed," even though she went on to say that, really, it was a promise for the future. But she did confirm it -- that's not just loon wishful thinking as so many of these confirmations turn out to be. So, why confirm it? I mean, he took off immediately after the announcement and has been missing in action ever since, which has to make you wonder how sincere he was about it. Or am I missing something?

He is completely silent about all rumors concerning Brangelina except to issue an extremely terse statement: "there will be no nuptials" (which the nitwit looney press interprets as "until next weekend"). So what is going on? I've read some very credible accounts here that speculate he is using a management team, and is starting the separation process while Jolie is tied to "Maleficent" and cannot take off in search of him. There is alot of past information and other accounts that make this theory quite believable. But then, why agree to the engagement to begin with?

Do you think that he agreed to it to fake her out, and let her guard down while he plots his escape? That seems really duplicitous and kind of mean, but ... I don't know what I would do if I had someone like Jolie clinging onto me for dear life either. It just seems odd ... the announcement and then he's gone. Without a word and for a really long time.

IMHO he didn't buy the ring. She did and had her jeweler announce it so she could feign innocence if Brad got angry. She thought that once it was out in the media he would just play along just like he has been doing for the past 7 years. He couldn't deny buying the ring because that would set her off (i think she has something on him and is not afraid to use it)But he would not use the word engagement either so he had his rep say a promise for the future. It's vague enough that he can still go either way. I think he has an escape plan in place and her buying an engagement ring for herself was enough to finally scare him away. It was the last straw.
