Innapropriate yes, he wasn't really preaching the gospel to him though he did hand him a tract. Does that mean he should have been fired with no explanation and blacklisted from the industry? Don't you think the punishment was a bit excessive.

Yes he should have been fired and blacklisted. There's a zero tolerance for that sort of thing. He was simply unprofessional. Besides, he wasn't part of the crew. (He probably would have been given a talking too instead if he were) Extras are expendable. Also I find it interesting it took a week to can him. It seems some investigating was done and it was discovered this guy may have had an agenda - other than preaching the Gospel. He's using this story to show what a good shepherd he is. What he should have done is approached Brad once the shoot was finished, perhaps invited him for a drink or dinner (of course this would never happen). Yet in doing so, he would have been received better. That would have been more Christian and personable than those annoying tracts that are handed out.

I am annoyed by the Brand as well, but working in the studio environment, this sort of shi# is annoying as fu#$.

I understand how most will view his firing as excessive, but really it isn't. It sends a message. Like I said before, people who pitch things on set are canned too.

Also, as he said before, he has given those tracts to other actors on set. I wouldn't be surprised if his name was on a list and this was the final straw.

Most people say no to the tract or just accept it and throw it away later. Pitt made sure the guy was fired And blacklisted? So are all HW Satanists that sensitive?

You're missing the point. It's not so much about the tract, it's about this guy passing them out on set during a work environment. Also, as he's admitted in that interview he's been doing this for awhile. Work hours isn't the time or place to do this.

It took a week to can this guy, not a day. Think about that for a second. I've worked on sets where an extra just looks at an actor funny or stalks them and they are gone that instant.

True stars aren't nice folk, especially after they have some succes, but those instant firings probably hadn't any first amendment issues there was in this one and hence the delay.

There wouldn't be a first amendment issue. He was selling something - during work hours. I actually believe the delay was because he was investigated. They didn't want to fire him right off the bat. In the video he comes off as a nice guy actually. He's certainly not nuts like the examples I've given of instant terminations. Of course I could be totally wrong, I'm just giving my opinion having worked on movie/tv sets.

Brad Pitt is pretty chill. Not high strung. He's a total stoner. Not that bright, but certainly not vindictive. He tries to avoid confrontation at all costs.

He was selling something, not distributing a religious tract?

That's viewed as selling a belief system. Unless a private institution, that's not allowed. There have been cases where other people have been fired at the work place who have done something similar.

Just look up people who were fired in the work place because of their religious beliefs. It's not just an issue in the entertainment industry.

I agree totally - very inappropriate. Why the need to convert everyone??

The f*ck? Pitt has said that God is selfish and that he DOESN'T believe, you idiot!

There was a time he "joked" that he made a pact with the devil. Sometimes, your subconscious speaks louder than reality. i believe he wasn't joking at all.

He wasn't joking at all, he admitted he has a pact with the devil. Mick Jagger said something similar in interviews several time, like he had sold his soul to the devil and that's why he got rich and famous and that he was not joking at all.

When are you starting the witchhunts?? Grow up already - very superstitious and naive!!

I am a total anti and I agree with this. It is sooooo inappropriate. It is a private matter and should be left private. To those defending the action, I would ask if they would agree it was appropriate for someone to approach them at work and try to force literature on them advocating gay sex in order to understand the LGBT issue fully. Really, it is the forcing of someone else's private beliefs and practices on another in the workplace -- somewhere you have to be, that you can't opt out of. I agree that this guy should have been fired.

Brad's famous for having a beef with Christianity. I doubt the extra was fired because of this even though he most likely knew what Pitt's views are on the subject. He took it upon himself to bring his personal agenda into the workplace, without management's prior permission. He showed poor judgment.

Looking at this as a manager, I think the extra's direct supervisor and possibly a level or two up said "Get rid of him". It puts management on the spot when someone they hired embarrasses them in front of a powerful, influential person. Their judgment at hiring what turns out to be a loose cannon comes under question. Brad mentioned it, and management took care of it.

What if nothing had happened to the extra after he handed Pitt the tract? Would he have taken that as encouragement to approach Pitt with more tracts, or try to engage him in conversation to save his soul? What if the man is actually trying to establish a personal connection to Pitt? Mentally unbalanced fans will use any means, even religion, as an excuse. People become unhinged about stars. (Loons, anyone?)

Management would never be able to trust this man's judgment not to escalate his behavior. With all the crazies out there, no wonder they go with zero tolerance. Nip it in the bud, no excuses.

The extra wasn't fired for his religious beliefs. He was fired for attempting to convert someone else in the workplace to his religion. Not the same thing at all.
