Even in her heyday she wasn't a good enough actress and has never been able to do an accent. With someone like her in the cast you just know the film will be a dud and it will all be about her. Russell would just be the macho support and the stories about a fling would play out in the press, followed by his wife getting upset and possibly a break up of his marriage. Russell is a sitting duck and just the sort of challenge she likes - he appears happily married with a pretty, blonde wife and with a lovely young family.

I haven't watched a lot of her films and in recent, I make it a point to avoid them (did sleep through Tourist on a flight). But I've been able to pick up her "acting" mannerisms are distracting and off-putting. She poses and primps a lot. With her plumped-up lips, they become a character themselves.

She has become that actor whose persona overwhelms whatever character she's supposed to play.

OK. Could be it is not really Russell who she's after. There is a young actor in Les Mis called George Blagden who is rumoured on IMBd to now be cast in Maleficent. Jolie is probably visiting the Les Mis set with children in tow in a charm offensive to convince the poor young man that she's a loveable, decent human being and it would be a good move for him to be her love interest in her new film. Helena Bonham Carter is also in Les Mis, so I hope she tactfully takes him to one side and gives him a bit of good career advice.

You could be right about that.

You gotta give ol JoLie credit. She had the kiddos broken into two separate fee generating groups yesterday. Those kids sure are workin' for the money. Photos of Legoland yesterday with X3. Private photogs pics of the ambush at Russell Crowe's film set to follow today. Pitt must have complained about money again.

first Fassbender, then Jude Law, now Russell Crowe - it is almost tragic how Jolie, her team and their PR fax machine make up all these stories about her and Hollywood actors.  As if these men haven't seen her chicken leg. There are no people left who want to be associate with her.

Not a problem for La JoLie. She has vast experience in hunting and trapping prey.

I don't get it. Sure, the average reader of newspapers etc. will see "Crowe invites Jolie and kids to Les Mis set" and believe they must be mates and Jolie must be a decent, nice person if Crowe wants to see her and she is on a par with him socially and in terms of talent because like tends to stick with like. But, amongst the HW acting community, which must be a pretty small and gossip ridden place, everyone must know what a nightmare she is. How does she think this stunt will gain advantage within the HW community, where it counts, as far as getting future jobs is concerned? She most likely invited herself, luckily Crowe mentioned her visit in a tweet and then her fax machine reported the thing as if they were long lost buddies catching up on old times.

Ya gotta give JoLie credit. She is relentless and single minded when stalking her prey, be it potential co-stars, movie parts, or directors. She only takes out time for shower cries and *ahem* her other "necessary daily personal activities". Predators like JoLie are always looking for weaknesses. If one of those poor guys blinks or doesn't run away fast enough, he's a goner.

ITA that dragging some of the jet lagged kids along means she is trying hard not to appear as nutty as she usually does by acting out her earth mother persona. It worked with Pitt, after all, and she had only 1 to work with back then so she thinks this will be easier. With JoLie, more is always better. She is OTT about everything. Unfortunately all of the kids are so poorly behaved and sad looking her trip will likely have the opposite effect on her targets as well as her peers. Crowe has kids and knows what healthy and happy ones look like and act, for one thing. The rest of those on the set will have been horrified by the experience of JoLie and those kids being there. Still, she does what she thinks she has to do to get what she wants. It is best to redirect people like her who get fixated on something, but those surprise appearances can be a bit*ch because the intended victims have no time to prepare an escape.

Guest wrote:Yes, I thought of the Ridley Scott connection. But she may also be eyeing him up as a candidate to be the Mark Anthony to her (if the film is ever made) Cleopatra. Can you imagine it? She probably has. A new, grittier take on the Richard Burton and Liz Taylor version with a sizzling (in her imagination) frisson between her and her leading man, both on and off screen. The start of a whole new chapter. Run, Russell, run!

Hopefully, she wouldn't be his type, he seems to prefer blondes/gingers like Kidman and Meg Ryan.

Barring aside Angie, Russell would make a great Mark Anthony.

I still think it is ridiculous Jolie wanted to play the role of a queen who was dark Egyptian/part black.

Actually this debate has been done before but Cleopatra was a Greek from the Ptolemy dynasty that descended from one of Alexander the Great's generals. It is highly unlikely she had any of the native Egyptian blood as royalty back then tend to marry within families. Cleopatra herself married her own brothers. They took the purity of their royalty blood seriously which followed the beliefs of the Egyptians they adopted their practices. There could have been descendants with Egyptian blood but they wouldn't be likely in line for the throne. That's my understanding about Egyptian history.

Still, Jolie would make Cleopatra a joke with what she has shown of her historical pieces and Alexander itself.

The people who told you that are WRONG. Archaeologists found the bones of Cleopatra's sister Arsinoe in Ephesus. She is mixed race. They even reconstructed a picture of her. She definitely had larger African type features. Cleopatra was dark Egyptian/part black just like the legend says. And based on the reconstruction of Arsinoe's face, I would say the legend is right that Cleo was uglier than a loon getting a glamor shot. The idea that Cleo was Greek-looking is bullshiit PR.

Use common sense. How can a family line be completely inbred for hundreds of years? Check out this guy, and that was after only 100 years of inbreeding:

I vaguely remember that unearthing and it wasn't definitive that was Cleopatra's sister. Regardless, even if she had a multi-racial sister, she wouldn't be in line for the throne. They take purity of blood as legitimacy as much as the preceding Egyptian pharaohs.

And it doesn't have to be absolute in-breeding. They could marry other royalties as Cleopatra sought to strengthen her . by allying with Caesar and later Anthony.

The Egyptian authority Dr. Zahi Hawass (sp?), the Egyptian antiquities director, has gone on record that Cleopatra was strictly Greek.

Anyway, I don't want to debate about it any further. It's been done. Think what you want.

Just one more thing about in-breeding. That was a problem for the Egyptian pharaohs from Ramses the Great to King Tut. They developed these huge warts all over their skin. And King Tut's father Atkenathen (sp?) had that misshapen head that was passed down to his descendants.
