What's done is done, right? And what I have told was only the barest fraction; if I told the whole story, you would, I assure you, find THAT even more improbable and unbelievable! When I think back on it, I can hardly believe most of it myself!

While it's true that Cher has had so much plastic surgery that her "own' face is a mystery...it occurs to me that Chas Bono does NOT look like either of her parents. While it is possible for two "dark, Hispanic types to have a blonde blue-eyed child, let's just say "it isn't likely". Thus I will be the LAST person surprised if it comes out someday that Chas was secretly ADOPTED, for whatever reason (publicity, most likely).

Chas's personal anguish seems pretty excessive for someone who supposedly had a 'normal" (that is to say "non-abusive") childhood; dirty little secrets like "adopted for publicity purposes and sworn to silence and non-action about it on pain of being disinherited" have a way of causing great inner stress, and possibly a subconscious desire to 'run away from" one's situation, which the "denial of one's proper gender" can be seen as. of course, growing up in the close company of someone who spent a good bit of their time going under the knife and constantly showed up with a 'different' face could certainly foster a sense of 'disconnection' from one's self!

It really is heartbreaking.
Look at her expression in this picture:

And compare it to this:

In the 1st picture she has a pretty hair and a sweet, open expression.
Then suddenly her hair, tooth and innocence vanish.
By the time of the 2nd photo she has the posture of a child from an NSPCC advertisement.
I know that all children get upset and have tantrums etc, but that is not what is happening in this photo...
She is hunched over in a defensive and self-comforting way. She KNOWS no-one is going to comfort her. That is the saddest thing of all.
