O'Bumma finally resigns from Trinity Church after pastor phleger made racial remarks against whites and accused America of r****. His resignation is 20 years too late. Probably decided that making sure he is president is more important than his guiding compass and political/racial activism.

O'Bumma is a radical or a radical sympathizer, a con man who has jobbed the American public into thinking he is fit to run the strongest country on earth.

The only hope for the US is that barack and michelle will decide they like living in the White House and that they will supress their natural radical beliefs and bitterness, and moderate their policies in order to stay in power.

You know O'Bama has black and white parents yet, all his detractors ever see is that he's... black! Why is that?

I have always been brought up to be proud of my black heritage because my parents knew how much the colour of their skin played in the struggle that they had to go through, just to be accepted as normal everyday people. But that in no way means that I then have to hate white people or resent the fact that I'm English. Whoever tries to make that leap or connection is rather stupid and ignorant I feel.

As an aside, I remember when Bush came to power the Republicans made a concerted effort to appeal to the black community in order to secure their votes. They used what was termed "compassionate conservatism". You know I love that phrase because it actually tells you exactly what Conservatives aren't by nature.

Liberals don't want to understand the difference between a 20 year close relationship and an endorsement. If endorsements were to be condemned, then O'Bumma should be criticized for anit-semite, racist, radical minister Luis Farrakhan's endorsement of O'Bumma.

Hmm, no. It's the fact that McCain took Hagee's money that differentiates it from Farrakhan's endorsement of Obama. Of course Obama's relationship with Wright is closer and more longstanding. And sinister. But you've said that many times. What more can be said about it? Now Obama has finally done the right thing and left the church: you don't like that either.

Now am I to believe that because you happen to be a long standing member of FF you are also in complete agreement with everything that Fred says? I do recall that Fred is/was even on your MPS friends list!

If you do wholeheartedly agree with Fred's views then yes, you are obviously not quite the person I thought you were but I understand that hearing Fred's rants on a daily basis means you will automatically be brainwashed.

On the other hand... if you do not agree with Fred's outrageous views then how come you are still a serving member of FF? Shouldn't you have quit in disgust that such views can be espoused on a forum that you are a member of?

Now of course you aren't running for the Presidential nomination and Fred is not a Pastor (heavens forbid) but the situation for me between your membership here and Obama's membership of his church is in principle no different.

The fact that you are a member of an organisation - faith, political or otherwise - which has a leader and/or members who preach a form of hatred does not necessarily mean that you too believe (or will be brainwashed into believing) those hateful views also.

Whether you stay or leave that organisation based on those hateful views is also never just a simple decision. Many of us do not agree with Fred's views or half the views expressed in the Brangelina Section for that matter but hey... we're still here!

However, if our future careers and prosperity depended on the judgement of being associated with the views expressed on this forum then... we might just think twice about being members.

I think my analogy is quite apt. I know many people who go to church for entertainment as well as spiritual guidance!

I'm not trying to get you to vote for anybody, as you said that's your decision, but to denigrate someone because they have an association with somebody else, be that spiritual, sexual, as a mentor or whatever, I think is wrong. That's because you can in no way measure exactly what influence that person has had on that individual's life.

You're putting the influence of spiritual guidance above everything else which isn't right. What about the influence of parents? Spouses? Academic teachers and lecturers? Peers? Friends?

What a person is and what they believe is built up from many, many sources over many years of one's life, not just from a single source.

I have been to churches where the pastor has been frothing at the mouth with tales of fire and brimstone and eternal damnation for those who do not follow his interpretations of the Bible. I'll quite happily listen to the sermon but it doesn't mean I have to agree with or believe what was said. Quite the contrary actually.

As I said... people are a little more complicated than you implied.
