What exactly is politics - Propaganda Free Zone

Postby ILWL » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:28 pm

Can anyone define it or rather tell me what it means to them.

I would say that Politics is simply the pursuit of control. Nothing more nothing less.

What do you people think?

In a sense I find the bit about an American people a difficult concept to grasp.

A) If there was an American people who would this be?

B) I actually think that attention to an American People is actually Un-American. Not in a McCarthyist way but more that I would see America as a society respectful of the concept of the Individual.

Did it not take a famous Democrat to suggest that people should ask what they can do for their country?

The Americans seem to think democracy in the only form of Govt. for every country. I can't say I agree some countries particularly in the Middle East need strong leadership and it would be better if the Americans would stop interfering and forget about the Jewish vote and stop supporting Isreal who blatenly occupying Arab territory Is'nt it time we ignored the Jewish legend that a God gave them Palastine as promised land and also sought their oil elsewhere

Lightouch1938 you have an interesting name given the subject matter.

I would wonder whether the lot of Arab people would improve if there was no oil in the area. I mean what else would they have aside from perhaps Tourism?

Surely if the ordinary people are going to have any future at all then oil is an essential component to their future. Unfortunately it is still an essential component to ours.

It is all very well looking towards Technological advance and for the West to consider alternative forms of energy - but oil company propaganda aside surely a zero reliance would consititute a revolution to Global politics.

Could anyone contemplate how the world will possibly look without oil being the driving force behind just about everything we do?

Would it initiate a golden age?

I truly believe that the majority of people enter into politics with the very best intentions however misguided those intentions may be. But they soon become jaded and cynical (at best) or corrupt (at worst).

also agree, with a few rare exceptions--Ron Paul and Ronald Reagan come to mind.
