I have just taken a quick look at the site, and it looks fascinating. I look forward to reading the narratives and will do so soon. Unfortunately, this is tax weekend in the U.S., so my reading will have to wait until next week.

Lately every nite I come home there's a civil war movie on tv because of the anniversary .

Last nite a very old and very good one called VIRGINIA CITY , Errol Flynn really was dashing . Loved an actress named Miriam Hopkins who was playing a Confederate spy . Also had Humphrey Bogart playing a Mexican bandit but with a terrible Spanish accent , even worse then the French accent I do after after drinking too much . :lol But was very very lively , even came with a cavalry charge .

The other nite was HORSE SOLDIERS which also had some oooooompth too . John Wayne was a Yankee officer leading his men on a big raid .Looks to have been filmed down here . Moi was really laffing when he came across a couple of slimy yahoos who reminded me of some relatives , John beats them up then turns them over to the sheriff  .When the Yankee soldiers ride into a town all the women are booing them , just shook my head thinking how my female ancestors wud have been acting very differently most likely waving their petticoats & yelling at the guys to come by for some fun . .Didn't like that there was only one black character and she was a stereotype , a loyal slave .

Also can't recall the name but a really terrible one from the 1950's with an old Clark Gable and a young Sidney Poitier , they both had to have done the movie just for the money . A cool end though , you find out Clark Gable is Sidney Poitier's father which was amazing considering the times the movie was made and southern history that has plenty of interracial sex that they don't teach about in school . Being the good son he is Yankee soldier Sidney Poitier lets his Confederate father Clark escape .
