The only thing about Obaumma pledging his support for Isreal is it's an election year in the US & Obaumma covets & needs the Jewish vote & Lena griping about Isreal being a leech off the US how about Eric Holder approving the gun running to the Mexican drug lords resulting in a US border agent being killed, but that's a black eye on Obaumma & his cronies the liberal media rarely mentions that

No it is NOT. How many more f*cking times do you have to trot out that same old lazy argument?

those people who confide “it’s all about oil” with regard to various Western foreign policy escapades. Yes, Libya has oil, a little under 3 per cent of known reserves. Afghanistan, Kosovo and Sierra Leone, all subject to Western intervention over the past decade or so, haven’t got any known oil reserves. Venezuela’s got loads, plus a regime hostile to the West, but we haven’t seen any Marines storming into Caracas.

Iraq, obviously, has a lot of oil. Yet if you wanted access to cheap Iraqi oil, invading the place is about the worst way to go about getting it. Oil before the war cost $25 a barrel. Five years later it cost $140 a barrel. It is stupefyingly silly to say “it’s all about oil”, but because it sounds suitably cynical and worldly, it has become received wisdom. If it were all about oil, the US would be invading Canada, conveniently near, conveniently under-populated and possessing, at current rates of production, greater oil reserves than anywhere else on Earth.

Winston, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. It is "all about oil" but not how much oil any one country has. It's all about the supply and transportation of it.

A large percentage of oil is transported by sea by oil tankers and they need clear passage through the seas. Libya is an important country not because of the amount of oil it produces but where the country is situated. Similarly Iran controlling the Strait of Hormuz would affect oil transportation from Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and other oil producing countries in the Middle East.

As stated in a recent IISS (International Institute for Strategic Studies) article...
IISS wrote:According to the United States Energy Information Administration, 17 million barrels of oil passed through the strait every day in 2011, or about 35% of all seaborne traded oil. Iran itself is heavily dependent on oil flowing through the strait: approximately 70% of the government's revenues come from oil exports, all of which currently transit the strait. Iran has no pipelines to its Indian Ocean ports or to countries to its east.

"35% of all seaborne traded oil" is an awful lot of the world's oil supply to be put at risk or held to ransom, hence... it is all about oil.

IISS article - "Strait of Hormuz: Iran's disruptive military options"
"A dream not bathed in reality, will forever and ever remain a dream."

Wow! That is an insulant and simplistic perspective. Many people think the world would be a much better place if the USA kept their face out of other countries underwear. The US ' 'fabricates' reasons to engage other people in wars under the guise of peacekeeping and supporting, then when they take the war to YOUR soil, you claim it is their fault because they struck first...

I think it rather bias to suggest it's always someone else's fault.

I also find it entertaining that the US Senior Officials have brainwashed a large majority of their citizenship base to believe it's acceptable to bankrupt your country in the name of pride and patriotism.

In the mean time, I'll keep bringing Canadian hats, shirts, badges and patches to my American friends because they are treated much better when they claim to be Canadian or have an affiliation to us while traveling.

As much as I like your country don't forget that for better or worse Canada is an economic appendage of the USA and wud be a disaster without having us next door. You don't even have to have a much of a military ( and from what I hear buy modern weapons for the symbolic forces you have ) since we protect you .

Viet Nam & the second war with Iraq were disasters which we should have avoided but where wud the world have be without the USA saving the day in both world wars and standing as the barrier to the Soviet Union ?

USA !

You are 100% correct we are an appendage to your economy, which is specifically why we get to Bleet about your poor global behavior and attitudes. I hardly suspect we would be a 'disaster' without you. After all, none of OUR banks failed. We are a resource rich, 1st world nation within the top 3 most stable nations. Many countries around the world survive just fine (and in many cases much better) without the USA as a neighbor.

We don't have much of a military, you think WE are the dumb ones for that? We are a peaceful nation and I'll be the first to thank you for paying YOUR tax dollars to protect my country as we sell you natural resources at a premium ;)

One more thing...
Last time you wankers tried to invade us we sent your sorry asses humping home. That's right bitches! CANADA KICKED YOUR ASS!!
:upyours: War of 1812! You haven't been back to try since!

But it wouldn't be brainwashing, if they taught you that in school. They teach you America has won EVERY war it has entered (that is what I've been told by my American friends). There are always stipulations about the Vietnam war but no one has ever come right out and told me you lost it.
