Politics on TV

Postby Lena » Thu Feb 23, 2012 4:42 pm

Saw the PBS documentary on President Clinton .

Maybe to much Monicagate , goodness me was that a tempest in a teapot .

Good at showing how the Republicans wasted much time & money trying to get him  .

Did give him credit for the good economy , outsmarting that blowhard /slime Newt & ending the savagery in Yugoslavia .

Coming up is an HBO movie about Sarah the Stupid. Some Palinites are complaining it's biased .Although to most Americans Palin is an ignorant loudmouth am sure HBO will make her out to be as goofy as possible for ratings & their own domestic USA liberal inclinations .

May write a letter suggesting a film or documentary about Pastor Terry 'The Koran Burner 'Jones .

Wow, somebody woke up on the left side of the bed this morning.

Republicans were playing classless politics with Clinton. Ultimately responsibility should at least be shared though. Lying under oath made that 10x the story and Republican could. I say we bundle it with Nixon and call things even.

I'm suprised HBO would bother with a Sarah movie. Sorta three years too late on that one.

I did recently watch an HBO (I think) produced miniseries about John Adams. That was pretty good. Interesting to see the same petty politics at play back then too.

Lena, Again... I gotta call you on it [again] only because you call others on it. It's this name calling thing and what you consider mature vs immature. You confuse me with the double standards you have. NOT trying to fight. I'm a lover not a fighter. But I am genuinely curious. I brought it up in the Obama thread and you bypassed my question, with good reason, possibly. I figured it was because I made a valid point.

tidho, Maybe call it even? I'm not sure. Okay, I'll go for it. Lying under oath made was the Repubs did look like nothing in the grand scheme of things. If a President can't uphold the law, then anything he had done good seems null and void, IMO.

Yes, the John Adams series was an HBO production. I saw it when it first came out. I'd love to see it again. IS it showing presently? The death of he and Jefferson within hours of each other touched my heart as well as the letters the two wrote to each other. I wasn't aware of that part of our Presidential History.

Zia, I watched the Adams miniseries on DVD from the library. No knowledge of it being on air.

ABC has a series called Scandal coming out in April. Have only seen one preview but it apprears to star the very lovely Kerry Washington as a D.C. spin doctor. Its billed as 'from Shonda Rhimes' who was involved with Grey's Anatomy so I'm gussing its gonna be pretty soapy, but if done well the politics could be interesting.

New show GCB debuted recently. Very heavily promoted and annointed heir apparent to departing Desperate Housewives its doomed to fail. Why? Unncessary attacks on religion.

Already loosing sponsors...but really what did they expect from a series based on the book 'Good Christian Bitches',lol....it appears Hollywood hasn't learned its lesson. Bashing christianity doesn't sell to the masses.

Reminds me of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Also heavily promoted and with a cast loaded with talent at the height of their careers the whole thing came crashing down becuase the recurring story line of the show was to make a central character look stupid for being a christian.

Like Studio 60, GCB is well written with a talented cast. Its fun to watch (then again I'd watch Leslie Bibb snaking toilets) but the ratings are going to evaporate.

I hate that show , too LIFETIME and another example of the hypocrisy of some people in a certain religious group that dominates Hollywood that while paranoid about bigotry against them is always up for mocking other religions  .

Amen.

Christianity is an easy target because its considered the majority and you're always allowed to be politically correct when it comes the preceived majority.

Will eagerly await the CSI like brand extensions Good Jewish Bitches and Good Muslim Bitches.

Yesterday on one of the Sunday morning political shows, John McCain said he only saw a little of it, but he said he NEVER talks that way. I believe him. They didn't have to add in all the "F's" and "GDs". When I watched it, the first thing I thought is that I bet he didn't speak like that.

Wud be surprised if considering his age & macho credential Mc Cain swore on a regular basis but who knows ?

He sure looked scared about coming down on Psycho Sarah in the movie .On C-Span the writer of the book the movie was based on said the old boy didn't want to offend her during the campaign despite the fact she was loking like a fool & losing it .

I'd like to see a follow up drawn from the book about the contest between President Obama and Hilary .

Wud be an interesting show.

A movie about pastor Terry 'The Koran Burner 'Jones wud be even better , a mix of far right wing religious fanaticism , JERRY SPRINGER what with his pedophile issues, and guns since he carries one around .
