Being linked with the big fat Aussie Viduka was enough to test the patience (I'd rather take a chance on a youth team player given the choice), but this, and to be dealing with one of the dodgiest agents around (after shedding our links with him, i.e. Boumsong and Faye) only confirms to me that Fat Fred is both stupid and corrupt. Stupid for assuming Newcastle fans would be appeased by such a signing and corrupt because... well, I'll let you cream off the top your own assumptions for why he'd deal with McKay again.

Why sell Chopra if this is the result. Rossi on loan (great prospect though he is) and what is ostensibly a reject from a club that is on (now above, to be honest) par with ourselves. 15 plus months to secure a replacement for Shearer, long enough to know Owen's crocked for the season coupled with continuous mismanagement of Shola's injuries. Fair enough, the money may (sorry, I mean isn't) there for high profile/expensive buys (bar Martins), but is this the best that could be done? Especially at the expense of James Milner's trust in his employers?
