what to wear at an airshow?

Postby susan_elizabeth » Sun May 01, 2011 11:33 am

Hi All,
I have been invited to go to an airshow next weekend and am quite keen on going, but cannot think of what to wear- any suggestions?

Thanks

Susan

Assuming that the weather will be warm I would wear a short floaty skirt, halter top and heels. Nothing else.

If you are just a spectator and not part of the program itself, I would go for comfort over fashion, appropriate to the expected temperature and brightness that day. Remember that you'll be standing outside under the sun, and probably walking long distances over both paved surfaces and grass fields. It will also seem very windy, compred to what you're used to in town, out on an open airfield. Heels and floaty skirts are probably both bad ideas.

Travel light, and bring water with you. You will probably want a light jacket or wrap of some kind, especially if you'll be out in the late afternoon or early evening.

Floaty skirts at windy places are a VERY good idea

My much beloved took me to RAF Leuchars last year, and jet aircraft about to do an air display started from one of the static areas. It's probably the one and only time myself and other women will have had their skirts and dresses lifted by the force of RAF jet engines....

I've been made to wear floaty skirts in windy conditons, one memorable time was a campus demostration recently. I was not prepared for how much I would show that day  but my bf loved it. It definately garnered attention from onlookers as well. I'm rather shy about showing too much, but depending on my mood & weather conditions, I'll give the guys a little tease sometimes!

Navy blue minikinis. It's hard to forget as my other half caught a few images on camera as I grabbed my dress, some with the hemline above my waistline. I made the mistake of grabbing my hat first which wasn't really going anywhere, but my dress I thought I was going to go over over my head. Being bra-less that day I didn't want to give too much detail away.

Happy days.....

I'm always prepared for the inevitable. I had a light summery strapless dress on as I knew it was going to be a really warm day, so I knew at some point it would likely go up which wouldn't bother me, I've been seen naked in public. I thought maybe a gentle breeze would do it, not aircraft engines!

Well it sounds like you had a great attitude about it! I hear it's normal to go for the hat first. Glad you had minikinis on. Bet some of the wimmenfolk had granny panties on :puke:
