i had the implant last month! so far so good! im not as moody as i used to be, agreeing with what someone said earlier i find myself very hungry!!! In the last 3 hours ive eaten mini eggs, caramel bar, a yoghurt and i am craving a chocolate muffin. Weight has never been a problem 4 me being a size 8 ill just have to wait and see what happens with that but i do go to the gym so maybe i wont notice it! I have just come on and it is quite strange its really light no pain. lets just hope its not a problem for me like it has been for some of u! x

i don't think this period issue matters, i put my implanon 3 years ago, in the "ideal" condictions, and i had a LOT of periods and LONG periods, and I also got 15kilos. i tried some deits before, but whatever i lost i gained again. now i am on diet again and i hope to lose these extra kilos i am going to take it next month

i had my implant in two days after my 17th birthday in 2004, they told me i had to be on my period, but i wanted it as soon as i herd about it, so we booked a date when i estimated when i would start my period.

The day that i went to have it i wasnt on my period so i lied and said i was anyway! Since then i have a period every 3 weeks, and it lasts for 3 weeks, and there VERY heavy! Does any one know if thats because i wasnt on my period when i had my implant??

It doesnt realy bother me as much as it does my fiance!

implanon

Postby Loobylu » Sun Jan 14, 2007 3:37 am

Hi everyone,

i had the implant put in 1st sept 2006. for the first month i had no problems at all i thought it was going to be great. then went down hill totally, had bleeding for 2 months not really heavy but not spotting, also very emotional and extremely tender breasts so i got in touch with the doctors which he said i should after 3 months.

He gave me marvelon a low dose pill for the side effects, which i have to take for 63 days solid, which instantly improved things. unfortunately it lasted for a week only. i am now back to having a heavy period with periods pains and everything. Has anyone else been given the pill for side effects?

absolutely great contraception this 100% effective, because i cant have sex!!!

xx

implanon & the pill

Postby dingles » Sun Jan 21, 2007 11:31 pm

hi,

I got implanon fitted january 2006 after being on the injection for 2 years. In July 2006 i started having periods non-stop. I went to the doc (finally) in October. She suggested I take the pill (mercilon) normally and that my body should "learn".

Interestingly though, ,she said that the reason i didn't probably bleed till august was cos the depo injection stuff was still working!!

Anyway, I just finished my last mercilon last week - only to be told I took it wrong. Apparently I wasn't to take a week off in between each pack - different doctor, different opinion!!

Anyway, this other doctor has prescribed Marvelon to be taken 63 days in a row!

Neither of them were interested in actually taking the implant out! Anyone know any reasons for this????

Thanks

hiya
i think they won't take it out because its classed as a minor operation, using up resources and all that, even though you waste more time trying to sort it out!!!

it can take up to a year to level your hormones out when your on the implant apparently. i`ve stopped taking marvelon now because my symptoms were worse when i was taking them and have got slightly better since i`ve stopped.

i think if you go to the docs and kick off they would take it out if you weren't happy, cos you've had it a while

I've been having periods about every two weeks. It's not bothering me too much, and the gap has been getting bigger in between the periods. I would just say to anyone thinking about getting the implant Be aware of the problems it has on your periods, I just thought 'it will never happen to me' and although my periods arent as bad as some others its still annoying.

well... not as jolly as i was before..... i had a period after i last replied.... which was very light.... and just became lighter and lighter.... the blood was red to start off and then went brown and it continued being very very light and going from brown to a dark brown a few days ago, now ive started bleeding a little more heavy but still light and the blood is now a pure red. It is really doing my head in.... anyone else have this problem??? and if so how long has it gone on... when i had it inserted the dr said there was a 1 in 8 chance of spotting... would this class as spotting?

this is a 100% effective contraceptive... doesnt give you a chance to have sex!!!!

implanon

Postby carrie84 » Tue Feb 06, 2007 1:48 am

Thought i'd add my experience of using the implant.

I'm currently on year 5 of using Implanon. I had my first one fitted after a termination in 2002 after falling pragnant using the contraceptive pill. I suffered from a recurrant yeast infection with the pill so needed to change my method of contraception anyway.

In 2005 i had the first one removed and the second slipped straight into the space left by the old one. I haven't had a single period in 5 years, i love it!!
We plan to leave it out from 2008 for 4 years to try for a family before going back to using it in the other arm. I'm wondering how long it will take me to get my fertility back, there doesn't appear to be much information on conception after using Implanon anywhere.

I too have noticed weight gain, although i don't have the healthiest of lifestyles i haven't eaten 5 stones of "bad" food ( i'll admit to 2.5 stones worth) lol. I haven't experienced mood swings as such although i have noticed a drop in libido. I hope i can get the weight off and get my sex life back ready for starting a family, bit hard without one lol.

back again and absolutely loving it!!!

After my period... all spotting stoped. WOW!!! I have my life back dont have to worry about feeling dirty or anything! Loving it loving it!!! God Bless the person who invented it! I told myself if things didnt get better after 3-6 months i would have it removed but its great! I would say give it a chance before you make your mind up!!!

period on implant? and weight loss?

Postby sarahklouisejones1982 » Fri Apr 06, 2007 3:56 pm

Hi there - i have two questions for you. I seem to have lost a little weight on the impant which I had put in in May last year (2006) which is a good thing i hope. I had the implant put in when I was due for my next injection (been on that for a while so not had a period for a while) and everything was fine. Not had any periods and i was informed that i wouldn't have any periods on the implant due to having had the injection prior. However - it would seem that I am having a period - (browny-red discharge) Any ideas? Why is this? I have also noticed a few blister-like pimples on my breasts around my nipples too - am I pregnant? Please shed some light.....

Many thanks. Sarah

I still believe that exercise is the best way to lose weight to everything else. THere are so many people living sedentary lifestyles now and that is why obesity is on the rise, if everyone just did 30 minutes of exercise a day the obesity statisitics would drop dramatically.
It's not WHAT you do it's the WAY that you do it. And THAT'S what gets results !!
