Fast rallycar Subaru with sliding? You wouldn't happen to own an Impreza WRX-STi, would ya?

Kickass cars.

I once drove 40% in excess of the legal speed limit. I backed out of my driveway at 7 MPH. I drove 2 MPH above the legal limit.

I love to speed...I usually floor it when I have a freeway to myself very late at night.

Holden Calais V8, drove at 240kmh for a brief few seconds...scared the daylights out of myself.

Mini Cooper got it up to 190kmh but the car is so low and it felt like a gust of wind would easily tip it so I never tried that again.

Worked some time with some guys who imported sport and luxery cars that we had to drive 500km further to the place where they were sold. Was fun for a while and we did alwasy race with those cars. 500 km in 3 1/2 hours with some tops of 250km/h with an audi a8, alu version, man that car realy went of like a rocket and it did not show that on the outside.

I loved speeding but its a bit to dangerous atm due the amount of travic here

Hi there, having passed my driving test at seventeen some decades ago now I am of the opinion that my generation has had the best that the car has had to offer. In rural England ZV1 (Zulu Victor 1 was the callsign of the Z-cars traffic patrol car for those under 30!) was rarely seen on unclassified roads leaving plenty of scope for a bit of speeding.

At that time if you wanted to indulge in speeding you had to drive for miles to get onto the only dual carriageway in the county. Seat belts were not mandatory either and the cars were generally not so safe as todays. But as PC plod was still driving a hideously underpowered ford zephyr you could usually have a bit of fun without getting caught. As the roads got better and the novelty of speed waned the police began to catch up with speeding with their new technology and their faster cars.

Nowadays speeding is not seen as it once was and all the teddy boys of the sixties are off their motor bikes and into OAP style electric mobility cars. Try speeding in one of those and see how long it takes even a bobby on a bicycle to catch you! :D

Add to that the proliferation of the pesky orange and yellow camera boxes and it is now safer to keep to the speed limits so most drivers in our area seem to do just that!

This morning my sister helped scrape the remains off a wall of a driver who had been caught before speeding in a built up area. The cause of the crash was him doing nearly 50 in a 30, a dog ran out, and he swerved to avoid it. As much as he could normally 'control the car', unfortunately the road had control on this occasion. There had been an unreported diesel spill. The car mounted a pavement, slid sideways along it before smashing off a wall.

Had anyone been walking on the pavement, they would be dead too.

It's tossers like you the world doesn't need. Why should innocent people be murdered for the sake of a few seconds gain in journey time. You get jailed for it, so what, the people you hit will still be dead when you get out.

In the UK at least, you should drive backwards out of a driveway, it's safer to go nose first, you can at least see better whats on the pavemnet. In effect any speed you were doing backwards over a pavement is at least 100% too fast.

speeding is maybe a bit overrated as being the cause of a crash, as the driver's ability comes into question as well, however irresponsible speeding is a major cause of concern:

i agree that an above average driver can exceed the speed limit and still drive safely, as speed limits are (presumably at least) designed with the average driver in mind. however one problem here is a person determining whether they are competent as a driver or not. i recall reading a few years ago the results of some university research (i wish i could remember which university) which showed that the same tools we use for determining whether or not someone is competent or not are the same as those which we use for being competent in the first place. which means that when someone says they are an above average driver, they could be right (in which case you don't have any worries) ........... or they are a bad driver and don't realise it, in which case.........

Wrong and Wrong. It's the sudden stop that kills you ;)

ladylumps wrote:I mean, I am no lane hogger or anything but unexpected things happen and you dont have full control when you are doing a considerable amount of speed.

Don't talk such rubbish, just because you do 100mph+ doesn't mean you don' have full control, it just means you have less time to react to a hazard.

ladylumps wrote:It isnt cool or fun, it is illegal because its bloody dangerous. If you wanna break the law then go do a bit of shoplifting or something, dont risk peoples lives.

It is cool, and it oh so certainly IS fun. It's illegal because driving licences are handed out to anyone that can remember a few shitty rules, and still not have any real skill at driving. Yes, it is dangerous. Driving within speed limits is still dangerous, probably more-so because people have a false sense of security.

I ride a motorbike, i speed, and i love every damn second of it.

If my gf reads this she'll probably tell me off, but she seems to think i ride like an idiot *all* of the time anyways.

Also, anyone that thinks 100mph is fast, has obviously never travelled at that speed themselves in control of the vehicle.

30mph is incredibly slow.
50mph is still fsking slow.
70mph is nicely pootling along, bu still rather slow on a long open road.
100mph feels rather quick.
130mph is like... oh S***! woooo! i'm going to die but i don't care! :D

Speed is good.

Even when it's scary it's good.

Speed is fine - it's the abrupt halt you come to up against a wall, or tree, that most people are allergic to.

I love the feeling of flying round a bend at speed, with your ass only a couple of feet away from the tarmac. Such an amazing feeling.

I only get an adrenaline rush when i realise i'm not fully in control!

So that count is at... 3 times. In a year of riding.

Im glad you get an adrenaline rush when your out of control - I hope that the next time you are out of control you spill your brains allover the tarmac and go rot forever in hell - I just hope you do not take some poor innocent b***** with you.

Your not a brilliant driver your a F****** lucky one - The church yard is full of wankers like you that think they are invincible ....sad thing is the cemetary is full of kids, dads, granmas etc who just happen to be on the same road as a tosser like you.

Anyway your time will come - The sooner the better.

as for the toss head who said speed does not cause accidents - tell it to the mother of a dead kid killed by a jerk like this one bombing down the road at 100mph getting his adrenaline rush.

Noxious - Good name your enough to make any decent person puke
