It boils at the fact that they've squandered the best commons majority Labour has ever had, abandoning almost everything the Labour Party stood for and continuing the Thatcher revolution.

Oh and the billions spent on the Iraq invasion, the basis of which was a bare-faced lie about WMD.

As a Scot, and witness to the death and devastation she and her acolytes wrought upon our industries and lives, I hope they just dump her (closely followed by her cronies whom she allowed to buy these industries for their own profit once they had all been privatised) down a mineshaft so we can piss down it afterwards and for all time. The woman was vile, evil and repulsive in the worst traditions of Stalin and Hitler. We should have realised this years ago when she took the school milk away from the kids and stopped her then.

I had to laugh at John Majors comment about his image of 'Britishness' being a game of cricket on a Sunday afternoon and warm beer. The response from the Scottish Tories was classic, stating " ..its hard enough to get votes up here without stupid comments like that!!"

To be fair, the Tories have done us Scots a big favour as we now have no-one else worth voting for apart from the Scottish Nationalists, which will ensure a majority in the independence referendum in 2010 and no doubt subsequent independance as a nation..

..btw, Iraq DID have WMD's ..every nation on earth including the Russians and French admit to that. That's what he used to massacre millions of his countrymen and the Iranians with during that other war. Just because they weren't found doesn't mean they didn't exist. Poor Tony was caught between a rock and a hard place, as if a dirty/chemical/biological bomb had been used and traced back to Iraq, he have been reviled for that too.

She treated the Lockerbie victims with contempt, including when she failed to mention anything to do with it her memoirs. The biggest mass muder in UK history, but never mind. I have a friend who says she should have funeral, preferably when she is still alive!

She closed mines here in Scotland which have since reopened and are still producing. She inflicted an illegal tax (Poll) on Scots about a year before giving it too the rest of the UK.

I'm not sure why some shabby closet facist deserves a state funeral. Thatcher said there is no society...society should remember that on the day she dies, and ignore her passing.

It never fails to amaze me the number of non Scots use the nationality card when it comes to prime ministers. If Gordon Brown or Tony Blair were English born, who says they would be any different as leaders? I've never read of anti English by birth comments by Scots etc, just against the person. I don't hate Thatcher for being English, I hate her for what she did. Her nationality is not important.

Up 'til almost the end of his premiership, I didn't realise Tony Blair was Scottish, I thought has was from Northumberland!

Who says all Scots like Brown or Blair? The Labour Party was founded by a Scot, the Scottish National Party by someone born in England. I never judge people on there place of birth, I'm not that blinkered.

I don't want independence, about 66% of Scots don't want it. Alex Salmond I don't like, Nicola Sturgeon I hate even more.

We Scots have no business telling the English how to live politically or otherwise and we feel your pain just as we have these past centuries of occupation.

The question of independence is not what will happen to Scotland, but what will become of England? Personally I don't relish the thought of living next to some third world country.. Where would an independent English govt. be located, ..don't say Westminster, as the people in the north might have something to say about that..

One thing we Scots have that English don't, is a strong sense of national identity, we are all Scots, ..north, south, east to west. Can you say that about England with your ethnic enclaves, regions with Geordies, Scousers, Brummies etc?

We have it all here, large and rising land mass, mineral wealth, smaller population etc.. Massive oil revenue to rightfully fill our own coffers, once it is finally diverted from subsidising Westminster.

We have Thatcher to thank for this, and New Labour.. as there is nothing else worth voting for up here now apart from SNP (I'm not an SNP supporter or voter btw..) If we can't make independence work for us, then we should be cleared off the land once again as its more than we deserve..

The way the politics are heading up here, its definately on the cards whether you like it or not..

looks like your favourite position has sucked your brains out. the chances are you would have to have her back, dementia and all, (who would notice the difference from when she was in power), given the last shower to have filled the post, hague, smith,howard,etc.Or maybe you would prefer the criminal element, archer, or even lamont who presided over the massive losses of office as chancellor.

I think she is too controversial a figure to have a state funeral. She’s not a Churchill or a Wellington.
Can you imagine how embarrassed we’d be if anyone objected. We’d rather not give a state funeral to someone who deserved it than risk a proposal being disagreed with.

Personally, I’m against the woman and a state funeral for her. I know one person who is going to attend with a banner saying “Not in my name.”
