I haven't asked many men if they have got a navel piercing - I'm a bit shy to walk up to someone I've never met before and ask them ! !

For women it's just another site to hang jewellery from ! !

I got a zipper for myself.

As for being weird - whose seeing your navel ? - personal friends and your wife - as I said the male midriff (unlike the female) isn't on display walking up the High Street or Clubbing.

The shop people aren't bothered - provided you pay them . . . just another customer. If you are nervous, go accompanied by your wife.
