yes with roaccutane you get dry face, very dry lips, but it may not always happen like this, it can easily be solved by using a good moisturiser.
i never changed the products i was using, and my face cleared up beautifully. i was on roacc for 9mths, so you may need a longer course.

N Lite Laster Treatment

Postby Lesley London » Thu Aug 04, 2005 1:49 pm

I am writing this to share my experience of the N Lite laser.
I am 32 and have had acne (not severe, but severe enough to really get me down) for 2 years. Tried everything, creams, antibiotics etc etc.....
Was a little sceptical of the laser, and relauctant to part with £150 for each session.
However, I am going to the London Day Surgery tonight for treatment number 3, and am happy to pay the money.
My skin is not perfect, but I only have 3-5 spots left, and the rest of my skin has improved in tone, texture etc....
Requires patience and money, no overnight results, and some ups and downs, however overall WORTH IT! My regret is spending money on fancy creams before discovering N Lite, but of course the laser will not work for everyone.

still trying to get rid of acne

Postby aideen » Sun Aug 07, 2005 5:44 am

Im age dand 20 and am still suffering from bad acne. Ive tried all sorts of treatments like anitbiotics. Ive used minocin and clindomycin creams but they dont help much! Im thinking of trying accutaine but my parents dont want me to as theyy dont think its bad enough. Is it expensive? could i get it done and pay for it myself? or do you think dianette would be better, and cheaper option to try first. Maybe accutaine is too drastic a measure. Im worried if i dont do somthing soon i will only have even worse scars, when im older, than i already have. Any advice?

acne and tanning

Postby Michele » Sun Aug 07, 2005 9:45 pm

Be careful Rachel! Too much tanning will age your skin - it may not show now but in years to come you may regret tanning too much-
As long as you do it in moderation you should be okay!
I also used the sun for tanning including facial solariums and now at 35 I am starting to look a little too prune like for my liking! :

roaccutrane isnt a bad drug to take. I took it for over a year with just a few side affects which are not as bad as it seems. People are always going on about the bad side affects when really it aint that bad.
It cleared my skin up completely, i have the odd flair up of acne when im stressed but thats all. All i can tell you is you shouldnt dismiss the idea without looking into it full and seeing what it has done to improve peoples confidence and the way they look. Im glad i was given the chance to take it and it has made a huge difference to me. hopefully you will look in to it more now

acne

Postby Guest » Tue Aug 16, 2005 8:58 am

I have had a severe acne problem in my late 20's. Never had them before. I was offered roaccutane, but I refused, and now I am glad for doing that. Roaccutane is very bad drug. Stresses the liver, and has a lot of side affects. If you do a search on the net you can see that people are saying about it. Anyway I did clear my skin, by changing my diet and with the help of some supplements. There is a lot of info about acne on the net, I found one site that has a very good forum. FAQ on the site is fantastic. The burl goes : www.askshelley.com and I will give you the link to the story about [burl=http://www.askshelley.com/faq.php?p=default&cat=38#a19] ACNE [/url] and acne what it tells us . There is also a good info on skin food . There is a natural way out of this.

Hope this helps

Re: ACNE - advice and treatment thread

Hello all,

AS well as taking care of your skin on the outside you MUST take care of the inside too. Because what kinds of food you put into your body also affect your skin!

Try cleansing your body from the inside like drinking lots more natural fruit juices and vegetables as well as LOTS of water. Water is a know natural detox for your blood.

Now for putting stuff on your face I would advise against it like soaps and harsh chemicals. A well known natural ingredient is TEA TREE OIL you may put that on your acne and you should see results quite quickly.

I get the odd break out or two but when I do get a break out I go straight to detoxing and putting TEA TREE OIL on my skin. You can buy that in health food stores and such. Also anothe known treatment for the skin is Vitamin A capsules, they are great for the skin!

I hope this has helped a little bit.

Basically i was starting up this thread for anyone to list any new treatments they may have tried (i've read about something called Nlite?) because this is seriously starting to get me down!

Any soaps, vitamins, foods, advice - do's and don'ts, private treatments, beauty treatments, make-up etc...anything! any acne advice what so ever please post up!

Re: still trying to get rid of acne

In regards to your quote, mya I suggest using TEA TREE OIL and your acne. It really does work wonders. Buy some from Holland and Barratts and I promise you, that you will see the difference. Get the ointment since that works best. I don't suffer from severe acne but I do get it once a month when I'm due on my monthly cycle, and I tell you, that TEA TREE OIL is AMAZING! It's worth a go and please stop using soap or any harsh treatments like drying up pads on your face as this can make matter worse. I know for a fact that Clearasil doesn't work at all.

Please do yourself a HUGE favour and buy yourself some TEA TEE OIL it's great for acne!!! I use it for my spots once a month at that time of the month and it works GREAT. Ok, it smells a bit but it really does work I tell ya. I wouldn't be without it ever again. Also, WATER is very good for the skin, the more you drink the better your skin will look I PROMISE. Also, have you tried Vitamin E tablets, they're great for healthy looking skin.

Its not so bad that i can't cover it with make up, but you can still see i suffer with acne, and by the end of the day my face looks dirty from all the skin make up i have to wear to cover them .Its a vicious circle. I've currently got a blocked sebaceous gland on the side of my nose, which really isn't attractive! Anyway i'm so fed up with having to wear make up all the tile i've booked in for N-lite in manchester on the 1st of August, but i still don't know the prices. I've seen that it cost about 350 EUROS but could any one give me an idea of price in £'s and any stories from people who've had this N-lite. Thank you!

TEA TREE OIL, TEA TREE OIL, TEA TREE OIL.

FOR EVERYONE THAT SUFFERS FROM ACNE MAY I SUGGEST USING TEA TREE OIL TINCTURES.

GO TO ANY HEALTH FOOD STORE AND BUY SOME. I PROMISE YOU, THAT YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR SKIN.

APLLY A DAB ON YOUR SPOTS 4-5 TIMES A DAY AND THAT SHOULD HELP DO THE TRICK!

ALSO, IF IT'S VERY SEVERE, GO AND SEE YOUR GP FOR ANTIBIOTICS AS WELL AS APPLYING THE TEA TREE OIL. TEA TREE OIL IS AN ANTI-BACTERAIL AND ANTI-VIRAL TINCTURE.

I have had acne for quite some years now (I am now 20) and have suffered from moments of depression as a result. I have spots acorss my back, my chest and some on my face.

For years I was on dianette and my GP said that it may hvae a lasting effect once off it and it diod for a while. However, I went on another called Yasmin which made me feel ill.

Now I am just riding through it! My face is much better. I use clinique anti-blemish products and especially the soap, day time gel and post-blemish formula and try to only drink water. However, the spots on my chest are worst than ever and the scarring is equally as bad.

I am going to try using tea tree oil or aloe vera lotion form health food shops to see if this helps. Sometimes I think we all have to admit that it is something you have to live with.

I was also told that getting sunburnt on the effected areas helps though is not advisable. It helps to reduce the scarring and repair the entire skin area.

If anyone else has solutions for acne on your chest please let me know as most products are designed for the face...

ACNE

Postby Guest2006 » Mon May 08, 2006 11:57 am

Hiya everyone,
Ive had bad skin since i was about 12, im now 18. Ive ried everything, herbal chinese remedies, pills, drinks, supplements, specialists, miracle cures, etc, everything.

Go to your doctor and ask about a pill to help, androgen blockers are THE VERY BEST and have suited me 100%, spots are un heard of now!

The second best treatment i used, which was fab, but expensives and stinky was chinese herbl soultions go to your local chinese herbal shop, they'll give you a topical solution and plls, they worked really well for me, but i suppose each shop differs.

Next up would be a topical solution from your GP. If your GP tried to FOB you off and rush you, go in with some researc of your own, DO NOT LEAVE until your happy, dont give up, because the only person who'll lose out and get upset it you, the DR don care less when you've left, so if you unlucky enough to get a bad one, MAKE SURE u leave when YOU'RE done, no sooner. Its like a roll on topical solution, that worked.

Diet DOES eefect your skin, whoever says it doesnt must be crazy, think about it, what u eat is INSIDE U and what is insideu, IS YOU. A lot of plants contain hormones that can effect your body, as does processed meats, so avoid dairy and high fat processed foods, dont go mad organic, just avoid to much rubbish!

And dont get stressed, see your GP if your feeling down, stress messe4s up your hormones and your periods.

A bit of sun works wonders too, repairs your skin and banishes spots, i use an occasioal, sunlamp to help.
Aviod heavy makeup (blocks pores) greasy working conditions if you can (burger ki8ng) and dont scrub your face or use reaklly perfurmed products, 'simple' is a very good range.

Hope that helps! xxx
