Yes, as a man, i agree with the bold bit some men do feel threatened. However there are a large number of men who also know nothing about cars, but that doesn't stop them spouting off.
I used to do technical sales and standing round listening to all the salesmen spouting off about their company cars used to make me laugh, none of them seemed to know anything about the actual cars it was all about GTi this and CDi that.

It is amazing how many people don't seem to know anything, even why oil and water is needed. Everybody who drives should know basic checks and what to look out for, my gf had never checked the pressure on her spare type in two years needless to say it was flat. I know she would just call the RAC but all the same it should be checked.
