Need some advice (adult near school)

Postby Amy68 » Sun Nov 01, 2009 1:03 pm

I hope this is an acceptable topic to discuss here, being new I don't really know, but this is something I am a little uneasy about. Recently my 10 year old daughter has told me she has seen a man walking near her school as her and her friends have been walking home, and he has been wearing a skirt. Other parents have since confirmed similar stories from their children, and some are quite concerned at primary age children seeing this. Even more concerning, they think it is similar to what the girls themselves wear to school (navy, pleated) so could be trying to mimic their uniform?

Personally I have no problem with crossdressing men, but near a school coming out, and similar to the girls' uniforms, I understand it could cause concern. Am I worrying unnecessarily in the hype of paedophilia etc. Should I inform the school, phone the police, or just ignore it and accept men can dress as they like.

Any ideas

Amy,

I am assuming that you live in the UK, as you refer to ‘primary age’.

Have any of the other parents actually seen this man? It would be unusual if they hadn’t (assuming that he puts in regular appearances near the school at leaving time), as many parents (usually mothers) collect their children from primary school at the end of their afternoon classes. If other parents have seen him, can they confirm that the man’s ‘skirt’ is in the same style as the girl’s uniform pleated skirts? I ask this, as it is possible that the children have seen a man in a kilt, as kilts are pleated and not all kilts are in tartan designs (some are in solid colours).

If there is evidence that this man is regularly hanging around in the vicinity of the school at leaving time, then I would suggest that it would be quite in order to inform the school and the police. There is almost certainly a perfectly innocent explanation, but it would be best to be on the safe side, and I am sure the police would not think you were wasting their time.

I think other countries talk about 'primary age' as well, but yes I am from the UK.

Re the skirt, daughter was sure it was the same as what she and many girls wear to school most of the time (most will be in trousers soon). She wears the M&S box pleat school skirt - a very distinctive style (3 pleats front and back, straight at each side, no wrapover). She knows the difference between a kilt and a skirt, as her dad has both a tartan and solid coloured one.

He doesn't seem to be at the school itself. Seems to be further back streets where children walk home, and a fair few do walk home from school here, except maybe the infants.

Could be completely innocent. He may just have a fetish for girls in school uniform or something. No idea how frequently it happens, so will wait before doing anythng. Daughter isn't too worried, just finds it a bit 'weird'.

Amy,

If the man was wearing the skirt style that your daughter reported, that would tend to indicate that it was not a kilt, especially as she is used to seeing her father in a kilt. I would think that it is important to determine from your daughter and her friends how frequently the man is seen in the streets leading from the school, and whether he appears to be loitering, or just going about his business.

Of course it is possible that he lives in the area and just happens to return home every day at the same time that the children are leaving school, although wearing an oversized copy of the girl’s school uniform does mark his behaviour out as bizarre to say the least. Your thought that he may have a girl’s uniform fetish could be an explanation, and that would be harmless unless his fetish extends to any form of contact with the girls.

If the school children keep seeing him on their way home, I would definitely speak to the police. They may well know of this man with his strange outfits, and be able to put your mind at rest (or otherwise). I certainly wouldn’t leave it too long if I were you.

If you are still worried about this then it is worth talking to the police. If you raised it with the school they would be obliged to do the same.

You seem to be saying the if he guy is just looking at the children that's fine but not if he were to approach them or more. The majority of parents would not appreciate him doing this, incidentally have you spoken to other parents about this man?

It's your duty now to report this to he police. Really, do it!
