newbie here! laptop cant find my disc drive???

newbie here! laptop cant find my disc drive???

can anyone help me please? all of a sudden my three month old laptop says it can find my cd/dvd disc drive things drivers but not the hardware? anyone with the patience to talk me through this so i dont have to look stupid at pc world again, please ???

take it in if you have a warrenty on it

Hum,
CD drives do burn out, especially DVD drives..
Or it may be the interface, (remove and fit back the drive after a quick clean with a cottonbud)

But yeah, it could be software...
You could try clicking on `Add new hardware` in the control panel...

If you have XP you could also roll back to another driver.
(your driver is corrupt)


But, why bother when you have warranty.
pretend you're a celebrity like Gary Glitter, with no time to bother with such things...
Leave it to the drones at PC World to sort out...
They are the stupid ones to work there... (while you can go to the sauna instead) ;)
