Car Shows

Postby Sweet Ruth » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:15 pm

Hi Gerald,
I've tried on line to find a car show in my area with no luck. Hopefully your brother will know of an event. Spring is not close so plenty of time.

I met a girl last evening that knows a repair garage owner. She is going to ask if he would be willing to show us an engine that apart so we can see the inside. Beth is not into vintage cars but said it seems exciting to see the internal workings.

Hi sweet ruth,

I will ask of course!!. It may be a while because his wife has come up to sheffield for few days to look after mum, so we wont be ringing their home. In any case its more fun on spring or summer days. Do you fancy chatting on msn?

There are car shows all over the place, the problem is finding them. I did a bit of Googling and came across a site which seems to have a pretty good guide to car shows in the UK ( http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/ ). I have no idea how good a guide it is, but it seems to be rather comprehensive and it looks like it covers all of the UK as well. Hopefully you'll find something close to home in the list.

Some car shows are just a display of cars, but some offer a lot more. One that I've been to a couple of times that aside from being huge (someone told me there were over 1600 cars there) is held in conjunction with the annual Arts and Crafts show at Kings School, Parramatta in western Sydney. I know I'm repeating something I posted earlier, but here's some photos I took at last year's show:

Ruth,

You don't seem to be around this weekend? Anyway, if you were to come to the US there are thousands of car shows and "swap meets" where cars are also shown. Some shows draw 50-75,000 participants. Huge shows in Vegas, Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte, NC, Georgia, Florida, California and Carlyle, PA.

Hi Tracy,
I'm back and enjoyed reading all your posts. Thanks for the car show information...but long trip to US for a car show. I've loved reading about your car and the "hot shot" battery to boast starting. Tell us more about life in North Dakota? I attending college in North Eastern US.

Yes Fran that looks incredibly comprehensive. In south west England we are lucky because many of the shows have an agricultural flavour with tractors and traction engines as well in some of them. We are having good weather down here, let's hope it continues for the car shows to come.

The show at Kings School, Parramatta is on again in August. If we go this year, I'll post some more photos.
