Wearing black to a wedding

Postby sharron » Mon Nov 09, 2009 3:36 pm

Is it appropriate to wear black to a wedding, or is that just for funerals? Is the rule that it has to be a night wedding for you to wear black?

sharron...i dont know of any rule against it but i think it depends on the wedding cuz obviously a floor length gown wouldnt really work for a beach wedding. if you wear black maybe just accesorize according to the how formal it is.

Ok thanks! Yeah now that I think about it, I have seen a lot of women wearing black at weddings... I think you just have to make sure that it's the right type of dress and maybe pair it with some neat jewlery or a colorful shawl or something

I've always heard that it is taboo, like you're wishing death on the marriage or something.

Hi, I wouldn't wear black, I think it's just a traditonal thing - unless you are just going to the evening do, but even then I would add a brightly coloured shawl. Hope that helps. c

Depends if you're a man or a woman. Not too many years ago, black tux's were de rigueur for the groom and his "entourage". Two of my three brothers were married in one, as evidenced by their wedding photos.

I suppose you could get away with a black dress but not if you are one of the bridesmaids.

Dress is an expression of feelings running inside you.Don’t limits yourself to bride wedding dresses! There are so many better styles out there. There are a lot of good options.

if the bride is wearing white then don't turn up in a white dress so black and black accessories are fine as long as the bride isn't wearing black.
