Gerald, Fran and Brian on Motoring

Postby TracyL » Wed Mar 17, 2010 9:46 pm

To all interested readers:
I think we just need a new "thread". I think it needs more trivia and information. I sure enjoyed researching the answers to Ruth's questions. Fran is a breath of fresh air with pictures and tid bits of information.

I encourage more people to contribute...it fun! Everyone has something of interest to share.

I wondered if there should be one for motoring experiences maybe aprt from trivia riddles jokes etc

Whats your take?

Correct Tracy.

Gerald, I like the kinds of things you, Brian, Fran, Tracy and from time to time others bring to the thread. Trivia is great, good stories are most interesting and information. I love all the stuff Fran brings to the thread.

I'm not as big on jokes but some folks are into those. I'm just not interested in whether someone's choke is working or not, we've beat that horse down. You and mom got me straight and anyone should be able to follow your advice back in the threads.

Thx Ruth,

If you can bear to read back a few posts there is a little unfinished business for you and Tracy on the old thread

take care,

Gerald,
What is the unfinished business?
I second everything Ruth said. We love the kinds of things you, Brian and Fran bring and from time to time others. I wish more people would contribute and not just read the posts.
Took my baby for a 20 minute spin after work and guess what? I've got news on my mini but you have to guess.
Is the Kia marketed and sold in the UK? We are starting to see more of this car.

Hold your horses there ladies!! I'm not too worried about my name being up in lights, in fact I'm quite amazed that anyone would want it there! But has anyone asked Fran whether she is happy to have her name in the title of the thread? I sense she has plenty of interest in the subject and of course many excellent photographs.

Hi Tracy

News on your car? Let's see you took it out for a 20 minute spin. I'm going to guess that you have now successfully hand cranked it from cold!

Matt,
Don't know about it being a sight but a sense of accomplishment. And, just think, I didn't know it even had a crank until Gerald told me to look for the hand crank. This has been a wonderful "thread" from which to learn.

Hi,
I don't usually post anywhere just like to read what others say. I live in the Western US and follow this post every evening. I had been following "Gerald on Motoring" but like the idea of a more inclusive site. I do love cars and wish to know more about cars, their history, the trivia (loved Gerald and Brian's), new idea and in general just love reading this every evening. I do hope all will continue to contribute.

Tracy

Wow! What can I say! It's just so great that you haven't rested on your laurels having succeeded the once but have gone on to do the cold start as well. How did it compare with the warm engine start? Did it take a lot of pull ups to catch? You will have to charge people to see the classic way to start an older car!! LOL! It is just brilliant for a younger person to take on the challenge of learning these old time skills. I can see you becoming addicted and using the handle regularly instead of the key!!

Tracy, you are a star! I know that your "teacher" will be so pleased at your success when he comes _ later.

HI Tracy,

I surely am impressed. Clever girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fill in the details, how many tries etc. I'm especially interested in whether the set up I suggested was good for you or if you needed to do things differently. That could be useful for others needing or wanting the skill.

Btw for now I'm keeping the other thread alive. If I end up getting ignored I'll take the hint lol

Off for a few hours

Congratulates to Tracy.

I called mom and had her log on and take a look at the picture of car from Fran. She said it looked a lot like a Kaiser made in US after ww11 but then fran said it only had an american connection.

I think I'm in need of a new battery guys. Where do I go for the best deal?

lastly, I want to learn more about the history of the mini. Do you know of a site dedicated to this type of history?
