Side Effects After Stopping cerazette

Postby So Sad » Wed Aug 23, 2006 10:48 am

I have stopped taking cerazette for 1 week now. While i was on the pill i suffered mood swings, depression, feeling anxious all the time. Also had a feeling of constant adreneline in my body so found i was getting worked up for the silliest little things. Im still feeling like this? I would have thought that after 1 week of stopping my moods would start to improve. They haven't? Does anybody know how long it's going to take until i feel better? I would have thought that after a week everything would be back to normal.

Some wome do get this I'm afraid :( If your period hasn't returned in another 6 months, I'd advise you to go and see the doc. Until then, it's just playing the waiting game I'm afraid :(

Hormones do nasty things to your system, so it could still take a while.

Re: Side Effects After Stopping cerazette

Postby Chants74 » Wed Feb 10, 2010 10:20 pm

After taking it for around 3 years I stopped taking Cerazette about 4 weeks ago, as we have decided we want another child. The past couple of weeks have been a nightmare for me, i feel rubbish. I wouldn't say i had any side effects while i was on it. I haven't had a period yet and didn't really have one while i was on it. I have a constant headache, i can't stop peeing, i am tired & lethargic, i am so sensitive & tearful, i am also feel i am putting weight on. I have cried loads, and tonight i completely flipped, i was angry upset & shaking. Its just out of character for me. What the hell is wrong with me?! Is this normal or should i go and see my doctor? How long will this last? How long before i get pregnant? Can anyone help? I am really suffering :-(

Ladies, I am ever so pleased that I'm not alone. I was a nightmare on the pill - total mood swings. I've been together with my partner for 4 years and we'll be planning for a child in the next year or so - so we decided that I come off the pill recenty.

It's been over a week now and I keep crying at random small things, some times I don't know what I'm crying at. I've had a constant headache for the last week and a pain that comes and goes in my abdoman.

I really hope this rubbish gets out of my system soon and I can start feeling 'normal' again... I will never go back on the pill again!!

Re: Side Effects After Stopping cerazette

Hey, found this site earlier today when doing some research.

About a month ago I was put on cerrazet to try and curb my hellish PMS and put me on a more regular cycle (I'm 17 btw). I started taking it at a fairly stressful time (exams) and have suffered since day one, wasn't too bad at first, just bursting into tears and being normal teenagerish, like anxious ect. However after about 3 weeks, things went from bad to worse, I started feeling dizzy and really horrible, low blood pressure, feeling shaky and sick all the time. Not to mention the headaches. I read the leaflet saying that these were the symptoms but it did nothing to make me feel less worried. I started having serious panic attacks that were lasting hours on end and not being able to sleep at night.

A few days ago I decided I just couldn't hack it after not sleeping for four days and took myself off it (guessing I probably should have gone to the docotrs but i was desperate). I've always had problems with anxiety and worrying, and after coming off I started to feel a bit more like my old self, but today I've just felt awful, I've had some light bleeding but all my old symptoms are back. Can anyone give me any reassurance that they had the same sort of issues? And whether I should go to the doctor?

Thanks, Gee Xo.

Hi you definately aren't on your own. I'm 23, fit, healthy and was on Microyngon for 4 years. Having suffered with regular migraine my doctor decided to put me on Cerarette. I was wary of it to begin with and queried the fact of periods stopping as to me this seems completely unatural. He assured me it will be fine and as soon as I stop taking pill again my period will start up again fine. I continuously took Cerarzette for 9 weeks. I immediately noticed a difference in me - tired, no sex drive, hated my partner of four years for no reason at all, didn't even like him putting his arm round me, my hair thinned quite badly around my hairline (i have stupidly think hair), I had major mood swings but couldn't explain why I felt the way I did. Having researched syptoms on the internet I realised this monster pill was to blame. I finished the pack and stopped taking the pill without talking to my doctor as I knew he would want me to stay on it. I have been off the pill for 3 and half weeks now and have noticed pregnancy type symptoms - stomach cramps on both sides (lasting 2 weeks), weight gain, my stomach is like a balloon and even look pregnant. I have done 4 prenancy tests and all are negative. In addittion to all of this my partner and I had a slip up this weekend which meant I had to get down the chemist to get a morning after pill (never had to in my life, always been so careful and worry free on Mycroyngon, xcept bad migraines). I queried my symptons with the phamisist whi said she had heard of problems with Cerarzette but was sure I wasn't pregnant. So I took morning after pill which apparently is like taking a big dose of cerarzette. Again my stomach is bigger, I can't suck my belly in which we girls always do! I'm getting worried because although the tests keep saying negative I actually look pregnant if you look at my belly and I am worried people at work will notice and then the rumours start.

I'm thinking of going to the doctor next week as it's getting silly now.

Can anyone help? Shed any light? Having th same symptoms? Had teh same symptoms but ended fine with regualr periods returning????

Hi,

I don't know if this thread is still active but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me about coming off cerazette - should I do it slowly or can I just stop taking it one day? I'm 23 years old and have been taking it for 9 months and my husband and I will not be using any form of protection once I stop taking the pill, so I want to make sure there are no risks. I heard that people who get pregnant right after coming off are likely to suffer miscarriages. I have been pregnant 3 times already and each was healthy and full term so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Any advice is welcome, thanks!

I hate to say this but I was so relieved reading these posts - just to see I'm not alone in having yucky side effects both being on and coming off Cerazette.
Being in my late thirties and recently married I was given Cerazette as the option with 'less risk and side effects'. What a joke - my husband said I had become a different person on this pill - moody, depressed, tired most of the time - and my libido just disappeared - I didn't even want to be close to him. I would say this pill works as birth control simply by making you feel so awful that you don't even wanna have sex anymore!!
Anyway, with all that, I came off it 2 weeks ago and have kinda started feeling better but still have very little feeling 'down there'. I got headaches, have felt nauseous and fatigued a lot, even had chills at one point. I thought it was flu but now seeing all these posts I'm thinking it's coming off this pill as I haven't had a cold or anything. I was only on Cerazette for 10 weeks!
I also had UTI's while on it and have had to have antibiotics a lot so that hasn't helped. Praying these symptoms disappear and we all get back to normal soon!! Never doing this crap again!

I've been on Cerazette since August 2009 and started suffering with the excessive emotions, overly sensitive to everything, irrational , hives and crying most of the time after about only two months, but my Dr did not seem to think it was due to the pill so instead I have had many blood test's over the last year to find there is absolutly nothing wrong and only when I put into google "cerazette over emotional" I found many many people where suffering the same way and I realise that it was all down to this pill and I wasn't loosing my marbles.

I have know been off it for two weeks and I'm now also getting horrific head aches, weight gain and an inability to sleep on top of the side effects i was already suffering from, I'm now concerned about when i will be back to normal with my cycle and when I will be emotionally back to normal.

Although you are all relieved to see you are not alone it does frighten me to think that after talking to my own GP they are either totally unaware of these side effects or mask the fact they do know very well! I was on cerazette for 1 year and have come off it to try for a baby. I had a period two days after coming off it and not had another one yet -am now two weeks past when I should have come on. I too have had terrible headaches, felt sick, been tired etc and sadly according to the tests I am not pregnant. I am nearly 30 and was on this pill because it is widely recognised as being one that leaves your system almost immediately. I will be returning to my GP within two weeks for an explanation and will not be leaving until I get a satisfactory answer! I wish you all good luck too.

I am so glad to have read this and made the decision to come off the pill now!
I went on cerazette in 2008 when i was 20 and came off it two weeks ago. Thought i was going made with the low sex drive, headaches, feeling faint and dizzy all the time but since coming off it i feel like a different person and it's only been two weeks!
Feel reassured that my period might be late and that these sore breasts and bloated belly is normal... well as normal as can be. I'm very reluctant to try any hormonal intervention again and am just glad that i've come of this yeeears in advance to wanting a baby....
What us girls have to do, eh?!!

Thanks :)
