Do Hope the Oil Spill is Actually Capped

Postby Lena » Fri Jul 16, 2010 6:10 pm

That wud be a huge relief, especially for those poor people along the gulf

BP looks like a evil corporation , loved the way Obama made them come up with billions .

ON NPR they had a long report how BP has put profits before the right thing for decades, recently they were the driving forse behind getting the Lockerbie bomber freed since they want oil in Libya :x

Time to get the economy on the gulf going again , maybe use some of the billions we give thosse leeches in israel every year to help other Americans ?
Alive in spite of myself and looking at the world .........

It would be nice. It'd also be nice if we didn't have to pay for the cleanup, but corporate America is allowed to get away with murder, and then charge us for it.

My understanding is that the cap is only temporary and the the long term solution is to drill down for two new pipes to intercept the flow. I don't pretend to understand much about this, but it seems a bit risky - what if you just reopen the leak further down?

Then it becomes a tax deduction as a cost of doing business and they make millions!

In what way is Obama at fault, other than in that the right wing have convinced themselves that he is responsible for all bad things in the world from the day he got elected?

He didn't sign contracts to allow BP to drill there and he doesn't have links to the big oil companies. There was a president who did though, now what was his name?

He didn't? Prove it guitarDan. The drilling didn't start until he took office. He indeed signed off on it.

On the flip side, even if McCain had been elected, we would be drilling in the Gulf. The Obama thread is full of my comments about off shore drilling and my desire for it. However, knowing what has been discovered about BP, the MMA, the money paid to Obama, and a truck-load of other crap, there is NO way I would have chosen BP to do the job. If you dare take a clear look, Obama was the one that gave BP the job.

Willie is correct. Obama has much to answer for. 1) Why is information censored? 2) Why is foreign skimmer vessels not allowed down there to clean up? They are still not there. 3) Why was BP chosen for the contract? Did the $900,000, the largest amount ever from an oil company to a politician have anything to do with the decision????? I want to know why and he is the president. It's his job to inform the American people.

Whatever took place prior to the accident, is one thing. I hope the gov gets to the bottom of it. What happened after the spill is another. Worshippers want to blame Bush, as usual. There is NO one to take the blame other than the president for his actions (and lack thereof) after the spill. He should at least come out and defend his decisions and explain why. I want to know!!!!!

***Why start a second thread on this? :? There is one already in Chit-Chat.

Last but not least . . .

All we have had from this president is his blaming the previous administration. Will he ever grow up, put on his big boy underwear and accept responsibility for his part? Obama promised us TRANSPARENCY. Where is it? Did he lie to us for the vote?

It's still leaking, but not to the capacity that it has been. Fingers are crossed for good luck! Cross yours too, please.
