Brangelina do not own Chateau Miraval

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Château Miraval (photos below), the Brangelina mansion in France’s Provence region near Marseille and Var, is so enchanting that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are going to retire from Hollywood films and just do French construction for the rest of their life. At least, that is the ridiculous claim made in this week’s British news.

The British news is claiming first, that Jane and Bill Pitt, Brad’s parents, are moving from Springfield, Missouri to the rolling hills of France’s Provence, permanently. Second, the reports claim that Brangelina own Chateau Miraval and are doing massive renovations to the estate to prepare for their family’s relocation. And finally, British news claims that Brangelina are retiring from Hollywood to do just voice over work from inside the mansion.

The only thing consistent about that report is that every assertion is wrong.

The Pitt parents aren’t leaving Missouri for good, Brangelina don’t own Chateau Miraval, and Brad and Angelina aren’t retiring from Hollywood.

But time seems to repeat itself, especially in British news. This week’s false news report is virtually the same that surfaced in 2008. In May 2008 news reports falsely claimed the couple had bought the Chateau. Instead, at the time American owner Tom Bove remained the Chateau’s owner.The estate is from the 17th century estate, featuring over 1,000 acres of forest and vineyard. The chateau is believed to feature 35 bedrooms, a lake, a pool, and a moat.

In fall 2008, news reports claimed that in Correns, a village in Provence in close proximity to Brangelina’s Chateau Miraval, the trend is for residents reportedly to “make up stories about the couple for the paparazzi.” Additionally, “you will be treated to a free glass of pastis if you can get a particularly silly story published, mischievous residents said, declining to be named” so claim reports at the time.

It's mighty strange that everytime PIttstain disappears without the family, the stories of him renovating the chateau pop up from the UK Daily. So where is Pittstain really flies off to?

They wanted to buy it but Tom Bove at the time was not selling. He leased it to them for 3 years which is over.. so if they are still going and doing things to the property then they have either extended the lease or are leasing to own but leaving the ownership of the vineyard to Bove.

There's no way that Jolie and Pitt could afford the Chateau and its maintenance. If it's true that Pitt continues to renovate it, he's a fool when he's a mere tenant.

I wonder how many glasses of pastis did Pitt and Jolie get for putting out lies for the media to distribute, such as being able to afford Chateau Miraval.

Remeber he owen the word Archticture no one should use the word Archticture. Probably he still doing Archticture in the house that he does not owen. . It all about trying hard to sound cool all over the world. Even they do'nt owen it, they will try to make sure that the world heard that they owen it.

It's probably the owner who's renovating, but it's Pitt's responsibility to make sure the property is in the same shape when he moves out as it was when he moved in. If he went there, it was probably to get it ready to be turned back over to the owner.

They leased that place as a stage setting for the birth of the twins, and to be able to say they were born in France. It's served it's purpose. They won't be going back there as a family.

I don't think so. I am pretty sure that there was an option to buy at 3 years. If they aren't buying it, then they will be turning it back over. To turn it back over, they have to put it back into acceptable condition because they had made a lot of modifications to it, and they probably trashed it as well. If they are buying it, then there will be paper work filed with local authorities within days of the sale, and there might be an announcement in the local paper at the time the agreement to purchase was signed. It is possible that they can extend the lease, but why would they extend when they can buy? Unless the rumors of financial problems are true and they can't get a loan, of course. Actually, they could be both turning it back over and having financial problems, not ruling anything out. But if they are having financial problems and just extending the lease and not buying, then why would they spend the money to make modifications to it at this time? No, everything points to them turning it back over.

I'm with you on this. He's not over there overseeing renovations / restorations and probably never was since Bove spent several years restoring and renovating up until he leased it out to Brangelina. All of those trips to "renovate" were probably just using that excuse as a decoy.

Yes. Which is probably a great relief to the people actually doing the work. I imagine they will have their hands full when they repair the Brangelina damage.

I honestly think that if there were any renovations or repairs going on, it wouldn't be Pitt overseeing anything. First off, he doesn't speak French which would make dealing with the tradespeople rather difficult. It's a lot more likely that Bove would have it done and charge them for what it cost, using the same people he used to renovate it in the first place.

I've said this before, but there is no such thing in France as a "lease to own" agreement when it comes to real estate. France does have something called a "viager", but that is something else entirely and wouldn't be applicable in this case.

My mom and I were discussing this last night. Both of those points were mentioned and we also discussed the fact that it is a giant estate with dozens of bedrooms - even if you believe that a) he was overseeing renovations for his parents' cage or b) he was tidying up for his family there are dozens of other rooms that must be viable alternatives for living while renovations are in progress. It looked a bit dilapidated before but it's been since May 2008 so I'd assume progress has been made.

P.S. I may be anti but I hope they are actually moving there. Can you imagine being a kid on 1000 acres of land with vineyards and a giant castle-like home? Talk about play-time paradise! I plan on buying a nice tract of land when I have a family for just that purpose!
