Re: the pill...cerazette

Hi everyone,

I've been on cerazette for about 2 months now. I'm OK, the bleeding's settled down, but one thing's bothering me...

By breasts have gone up a cup size. I haven't gained weight generally, it's just the boobs. They're quite tender too. I know some might see this particular kind of growth as a perk, but I always liked my B cups, I'm not keen on this. I'm thinking of coming off the pill, just for this reason. Am I overreacting? Has this happened to anyone else?

hi there i was on cerazette for 7 weeks... i was on microgynon 30 previously but changed because of really bad mood swings... we decided i would come off so we could try for a baby... since i came off i had spotting for 2 days and nothing since... i stopped taking it about a month ago... i have had really sore and tender breasts especially the nipples... i have had small white dots also appear around my nipples... i have spoken to a few friends who have had kids and they have all suggested that i am pregnant... i have done tests but they have all came back negative... i just dont know what to think... could i be pregnant and its too early for a test to predict or is it too soon after coming off cerazette to be pregnant and these are all just side effects

any help would really be appreciated

Thanks in advance xxxx

I started taking Cerazette 5 months ago. On my first month, I had a period that lasted 4 weeks. I then had a 2 week break and another 3 week long period. After this though, my periods stopped completely and I havnt had a period since. At first I also became quite spotty and my mood swings were all over the place, but like the periods these both settled down as well and now I feel completely normal! I also love having no periods as mine were awful and it is just a relief! Hope this helped anyone :)

Hi ladies. I'm on my second pack and haven't bled since I started but I'm getting very extreme mood swings, bad cramps like a bad period and have already gained weight. Seems like it works great for some people and not for others :-(

Just an update,

I was the girl whose breasts grew a cup size on Cerazette. Yup, that's not at all embarrassing to type! Well, I came off the pill a couple of weeks ago, not just for that reason - there were mood related ones as well. Thankful to say, my boobs seem to be shrinking again, and they don't hurt as much either. So I guess the medication doesn't stick around in your system for too long after you cease taking it. And the side effects are far from permanent, which is a relief!

Good luck with your pills, guys.

I've been prescribed this pill as I've had various period related problems for years. It was meant to help stop painful cramps, heavy bleeding and other symptoms. While it reduced the frequency of cramps,i have suffered nausea and sickness worse than ever, low mood, tearfulness and extreme tiredness.Whereas I used to have one heavy period lasting several days with occasional breakthrough bleeding, whilst taking this pill I experienced almost constant bleeding-much heavier than spotting as well as still having usual periods.Oh,and I forgot to mention 7lbs weight gain and swollen painful breasts.I really couldn't recommend this pill to anyone.

I am so glad I saw these posts, I have been on Cerazette for just over 4 months and the side effects have just gotten worse and worse! I have only had on short period since taking it, which I can't complain about, but everything else has been awful. I feel low all the time, very tired and lethargic, headaches, crying over the slightest thing, paranoia is going crazy, panicky and anxious, everything that has been mentioned I seem to suffer from on this pill! The symptoms of my period changed to the symptoms of pregnancy so that was quite scary, and the size of my boobs fluctuated rather than just getting bigger or smaller. I have even started getting nightsweats, so I have decided to come off it, hopefully it will make my body calm down then.
I was on Microgynon before and my body didn't agree with that either, so I think I need to stay away from the pill!! It affected my Mum in a similar way too, so it could be a genetic link that means I am incompatible with them..
Not everyone has the same side effects, but I felt so relieved to see I wasn't the only one suffering!

Thanks for reassurance and help in making my decision :D

Hi all,
Have been put on cerazette, since after 8 yrs, my GP has said im allergic to oestrogen. I used cerazeete when bf both my children, and never had periods or noticed any difference. But, I was only on it for a few months, and with a new baby at the time, I dont think I would have noticed. Now, Im feeling a bit negative about taking it. If it turns out no good for me, my only option will be injection, I cant be doing with a coil!

the pill...cerazette

Postby lisa1 » Sat Jul 16, 2011 8:19 pm

Hi :hand:
I toke cerazette for approx 2 years. during this time i didn't have a period didn't think i would have been as lucky! I stopped taking cerazette approx 7 months ago as we are trying for our first baby. my periods returned about a month after stopping it and they are regular they have come back with avengance though! They are heavy and very painful. Not had any luck yet and we are getting pretty desperate as i am 34 years old and affraid of missing the boat  due to my fertility declining at 35 years of age( so i am told). Does anyone know how long it takes to get this pill out of your system. Can't wait for my periods to become less painful and even more so until i become preganant! Is anyone panicking about being beaten by their body clock :?:

I have been on Cerazette for around 5 months, and have not bleed atall.
But i no a friend who i also on this pill and she has been staining light nearly everyday she went to the doctor and explained that ir is normal, as you have a break through bleed that maybe a heavy at first but will then lighten down, as this pill causes the lining of the uterus to come away so if a egg does become free it has nowhere to attach itself.
I have also discovered that i have little to no sex drive, and i can not lose weight at all, where before i started this i could lose it quick quickly.
I dont lik it for these reasons, but i like that when i do have sex there is no way of me getting pregnant.
I suppose it just reacts to everybody differently!!

confused and lost wrote:i have been on cerazette pill since first week of november and i have had constant light bleeding since?
is this normal for anyone else?
i fell pregnant on microginon so i'm wary about this pill.
how likely is it to fall pregnant on this pill?
i have many questions can anyone help??
