I doubt if there is a single answer to this question. I have heard of the 'pre-selcted' theory, and can see the rationale behind it, but I wonder if it may not be that the man is actually selectable that makes him attractive to other women, so if he responds, hey presto, an affair.

Despite having had an adventurous life (see my posts in other more adult forums for proof of that) married men have been something that I avoided, which is not to say that some of my casual encounters were not married, just not knowingly married by me.

I have had friends who dated married men, and one of them did it because it was guaranteed fun, i.e. it was not going to get, to use her words, commitment serious.

In short there are many single women who seek out married men and I would imagine that there are many reasons why they do this.

Various reasons, ego, convenience, reliability, control.

There is an ego boost knowing you can get another womans man, there is the convenience of knowing he will go back to her when you're done, he can be relied upon not to mess you around because he has too much to lose and you have the element of control knowing he wont step out of line in case you tell his wife.

its very siple for me and i certinly for most women i talk to...it's because a married man is taking a risk going with you...meaning he really wants you...meaning its a ego boost!! An older married man is very attractive to me for that reason!

I know a lot of girls who are into married or taken men because they get a thrill around it.

I know one girl in particular, who would go after married men or men with a fiance. She would often gloat, saying things like "I feel bad for his wife, she's all sorts of clueless", and when she manages to break them up she gets VERY happy.

Its a type of powertripping in my opinion, borne from her own insecurities. The "other woman" complex brings out feelings of "I won! I am so much better! I could steal away husbands from their wives because I am more attractive"

Sure, its a generalization, but from my experience.. Thats the reason.

They all start out cool but then become more demanding until eventually after a few drinks they call at the most inappropriate times.
It is very rare to find a girl who does become clingy.

esp they can have some single guy he interested there like nope

hence why i think a lot of women who cant find a nice single guy are going after the guy married or has a gf then wonders why she hate guys not all but have seen it alot

I think the reason ladies date married men is that they are more experienced in taking care of women than the single men. Some also do it because of the financial benefit they would derive from it.
