Cerazette - Major side effects?

Postby ibihcnoen » Sat Nov 12, 2011 1:40 pm

Hello,

I was switched on to Cerazette on the 2nd November 2011 - I went for a regular pill check for my then pill Norimin and was told my BMI was too high (its 36 and needs to be 35 or under for combined pills). I was told it would stop periods and wasnt that fussed, a pills a pill.

I had a normal bleed for 5 days at the beginning which was fine by me but the most perculiar side effect seems to have happened. this may be tmi but its worrying the pants off of me so i have to say it, I have no feeling down there. during intercourse with my partner i can feel movement, but no sensations. what so ever. not even close. its like ive been given a local anistetic so i feel movements but nothing else. the only feeling i felt for the whole thing was a burning sensation for the first 3 pushes and then that was it. numb. i thought perhaps a fluke, just finished period, its always a little tender, well, tried 2 times since then and its definately not a fluke.

Yesterday (which was only day 10 on the pill) I had a really bad dull lower back ache and on the right hand side of my hair line down there felt really bruised. we tried one last time to have sex, more as a personal experiement to me to see if i needed to see a doc as it had been a week now so anything that had previously been period related would have been over, and found that the only time i could feel anything (again tmi) is with my legs on his shoulders. but that caused an almighty sharp intense pain on the right hand side of my pelvis. agony.

has anyone ever found this to be a side effect of any pill? I've been on the pill since i was 15/16 and im now 23. its so unheard of for me its freaking me out. the only possible thing i can think is that its made my sex drive so low that i cant even feel sexual during sex lol

i also just dont feel myself. crying over anything and everything and constantly on edge, but i realise thats to be expected whilst settling into anything new.

i guess my other question is - would you go to the docs or would you stick it out until its at least been a month? as its only been 11 days today so i feel like i'll get laughed out of the doctors :(

hi
I have been on Cerazette for years and have recently had changes in breast tissue (cysts and slight increase in size of fribrous lump that I've had for years). I was told it is probably due to the Cerazette and have decided I need to find an alternative contraception. Am fed up stuffing self full of hormones too, especially as I have had a very itchy dry scalp for years and am sure it is related to Cerazette. So I googled side effects and found all these blogs and comments and can completely relate to loss of libido (causing lots of marital strife) and crying over nothing and getting very angry very quickly. I have also found certain positions can be painful during sex which I never had years ago, but I hadn't linked it to Cerazette. I suggest you maybe get a full check up in case there are any ovarian cysts lurking or fibroids? Also maybe find an alternative contraceptive? I might try the coil.
Good luck!

I'm not sure if this helps, but I've been on Cerazette for over 6 months and am struggling with anger and also crying all the time. I had to come off my normal combined pill because of migraines. Having read all of the side effects now, I would say this drug does not suit everyone and I think I'll come off it. Sick of crying and feeling angry!

Hi all,
I have just started cerazette a few days ago and I am experiencing agonising pain down my right side and lower back, I keep feeling angry or I am crying. I am also experiencing muscle spasms. All these things have only started since I have started taking this pill, and to be honest it is making me think twice about what I am taking. Am not impressed so far.

Hi

This is really interesting reading for me, I was taken off the microgynon by the family planning clinic even though I had been on it for 7 years problem free as my BMI was too high and heart problems in my family so I was put on Cerazette, it made me constapated and then I was getting pain in the area I would get period pain but it wasnt like the normal pain I got and backache. The docs told me it just needed time to bed in but as I wasnt having sex at the time I came off it. 6 months later when I moved in with my partner I then went back onto the pill firstly the docs gave me Microgynor but made me like a crazy woman and i bled every 2 weeks and suffered constant backaches and PMS, so my docs put me back on cerazette. I have now been on it for almost a month and although I have no problems with constapation I am teary a lot, my boobs seem to have grown although I have not put weight on and I am having pain just before and after sex..like cramping. I have been tested recently and I have been with my partner for over a year and we are both clean and I have also just this weeks have had hormone tests for PCOS come back clear...is anyone else having these possible side effects?

Hi I have been on this pill for only 4 weeks , and previously I was on femulen , that was very good for me and for some reason my doctor gave me this new one !!

Well let me say .... The last time I took femulen was around a year ago so I have had a good break from pill ..

Side effect ,,, enlarged breasts and stomach .
Weight gain from size 10 to 12 in a month , increased appetite, lower cramp pain , at night , no period yet !! 4 th week , I usually bleed every 2.5 to 3 week .

Also a feeling of low sometimes .

Verdict - I am coming off it , back on femulen

[*] hi, I hope this helps someone out. I been on cerazette for just under a year no period throughout. And no bad symptoms, apart from a blue discharge from one nipple. :/ anyway last month we decided to come off the pill and let nature take its course.
The last month has been hell!!

Headaches, bloated, irritable, angry, cry all the time still no period!!! And have become seriously depressed. I visited the doctors today after reads so many other people have suffered and its gone on for so long.

Doctor has suggested that I take the pill alternative days for a month then 1 every 3 days for a following month. Which will allow some hormone to still be there while body adjusts but it's going to work as a contraception

Wish me look. It's worth a shot anything is better than how I feel now!!
