Liberals come, realize quickly how right we 'right wingers' are and quickly disperse. :P

I am a little suprised euro politics aren't discussed more. It is the same themes largely role and scale related. Certainly US politics effects everyone around the globe, but discussion of the European Union alone could fill volumes.

Politics section used to be dominated by hordes of left-wingers, but they behaved very badly for a long period of time and got themselves banned.
o'bumma is a play on words, using the American slang "bummer" = an unfortunate situation. oh!...bummer! is spelled as o'bumma. This and similar plays on words can be found in numerous places throughout the internet.

You got that right! And good riddance to those commies! Gezz... how obnoxious was that, and arrogant as hell as if they knew what they were talking about.

There have been some British socialists who indeed posted in the Obama thread, and Aussie ones too. It's all there. Have a look. They even tried to have it locked. Look back in Ask/Tell and you'll see who was calling for it to be locked. Children shouldn't be posting in the Political forums anyway. :D They finally gave up, as ridiculous as all that was. If you look at past threads and who's called for them to be locked as well as starting attack threads, and calling people racists and all other kinds of accusations, you won't find "right wingers" doing it.

As for the Brits and their discussion of their political issues, they usually post those topics in Member's Chit Chat. I've asked questions and have always been given polite answers in reply, but I do NOT butt in with my die hard opinions about issues that are not my business. I find that sort of thing rude! I've only noticed one American that was strongly opinionated about non-American issues. It doesn't work the other way around, unfortunately.

Socialist are left wing. As for Americans, there were two others beside you. It's all there.

Bushwalker is socialist as well was Rambo. The other American who was banned was left however, he wouldn't say what he was. He said he voted for himself. He sure wasn't a Republican. Remember, he claimed he wrote a book about 'why reps lie'. Again, review the thread. It will refresh your memory. I'm not gonna bring up names. You know how that stuff goes.

I don't recall rambo .

bw seemed more like a regular liberal to me .

Mr.C , a liberal too although after he posted how Nader might be elected in 2012 I began to doubt his level of information .

Australia is a social nation. BW was a die hard socialist. Again, look back over that thread. It's all there in writing.

Rambo as in Sylvester Stallone. You know, he was out in the jungle fighting a war alone.

Nader would NEVER have a chance. Paul, dunno... but he's a Libertarian or Republican. :? I really don't know what he is.

I checked on Australia , it's capitalist country. In Shenzen got friendly with a businessman from there who was Mr .Capitalism himself  . Oz is more progressive then the USA like most advanced countries are .

Never saw bw say he was a socialist .

Old C was all over the place politically but a basic liberal which is part of any healthy political sysytem but naive about Nadar .

Rambo was the colonic ? If so no matter what his claims /ideas learned early on while he was smart you couldn't take that guy seriously about anything since he is whacko .

Looking at him at times you'd think he was a left wing radical , namely his silly avatar of Lenin .

Other times he sounded like far right wing .......... being a monarchist even claiming royal blood , his Nazi like hatred of America / Catholics/ Protestants / Muslims , along with his enthusiasm for racist & warlike israel . Remember when he posted if anything happened to the queen & pm he wud lead the British army in a take over and rule as leader ?

In the end you can only concur he was to crazy to have any coherent ideas.

Moi can get lonely but still do enjoy being the fly in the ointment and informed voice here. 8)

I really don't want to go through his tacky BS posts to prove you wrong, but I do believe you are wrong about him. Australia is a Robin Hood country. BW was against capitalism!!!! As well, as a female Aussie who posted in the Obama thread. I'll find it. Breakfast time now... and back later.

BTW, there is only 30 Million people on that island. Figure out what percentage that is of our nation. At least they got jobs, with some thanks to us. Low Corporate tax! The lowest on planet Earth! Us, the US... :hand: thanks Democrats. NOT!

back later...

Don't bother, we can agree to disagree .

For the sake of peace if pushed moi will even go so far as to play along and say one actual real live person who used to post here was a left winger :o

No, If I'm wrong, I'll admit to it. I didn't look up the nut's posts. Just not interested in wasting my time on that. However, I did look up Socialism in Australia. You are right. I was not. I suppose I thought they were because they have socialized medicine. I did learn of the SA (socialist alternative) political organization that's been on the rise since 1995. It sounds like the dummies with US's 'Occupy'.

I like to raise UK, European and World politics issues from time to time e.g. AV Referendum, European Parliament, Zimbabwe etc. But this type of politics is usually not grossly adversarial which - unfortunately - seems to be the general theme of American politics i.e.

"My political party is the best; yours is crap - let's argue about it"

Look at the Obama Thread and you'll see what I mean. Lena, If I'm going to generalise about the US right-wingers that tend to inhabit this forum it's that...

(a) They like to SHOUT LOUDER than anyone else about whatever issue they're "debating"
(b) Their view is obviously more important than anybody else's
(c) They have no problem with being openly biased in presenting an argument

NB: Please, any retribution is most welcome.

I'd say that's not really the British way of doing things. I know there are many UK Conservatives, Labour, LibDem and SNP supporters on this forum but very rarely do we get into the kind of political spats that happen across the pond. Politics over here just isn't like that even though we may disagree vehemently on a particular issue.

Actually more often than not you'll find a degree of consensus on many issues within UK politics. Things that tend to polarise opinion though tend to be... Europe, Fox Hunting, the Monarchy, Immigration, Scottish independence, Capital Punishment etc.

It would be great to see more Americans getting involved in political debate about politics outside the US and the old Republican vs. Democrat debate. But I suppose you really have to have an interest to take part in such debates or want to learn more about political issues happening outside your own country.
