Plus the actors revised the script as they went along given it authenticity and continuity. It seems the crew wore many hats trying to make this a success.

They definitely did. Jolie likes to take the credit, but the simple fact is that she did little to no work on this film. And it wouldn't surprise me one bit if all of them had to sign confidentiality agreements to ensure their silence.

What constitutes a "chance?" Letting them attend a premiere? Letting them sit in on a Q&A and getting to answer questions about how the Angelina showed them her script, tested them & offered them the part? Because that's all I've seen. Angelina said it herself, she wrote an artistic interpretation of a war that she did not witness but her actors did and it's therefore "their story." If it's their story, why doesn't she let them be front & center? Why would that be a bad thing if her main goal is to get people to see the film so they can be educated? Who better to educate than the people who actually lived through the war? Angelina is all powerful, right? So she should be able to get the press for the film without her being the one constantly in the spotlight. But she didn't do this because her motivation, her reasons, all of it are lies.

And if you disagree with that, then tell me why she feels she should be the one speaking about a war she didn't live through - and by her own admission didn't even know was going on when it happened - when she has others right there who can speak on such a topic? Why isn't she truly showcasing these amazing people and letting them have their true chance in the spotlight?

Exactly. Even if the actors didn't live through the war, they definitely grew up with the aftermath. Therefore, if Jolie really cared about making people aware about the war, then wouldn't it make sense to have the actual people who lived it speak?
