Heh, it's good to have a job where a couple of e-mails from the comfort of the sofa makes it look like you're busy organising things and chasing toolmakers all morning. :shh:

Anyway, when I wasn't sitting about saving the car industry I was having a nice relaxing day. I wandered out with the dog for a while, I mooched about in the garden, I filled the interwebs with chortles, I went down to the local cafe for coffee & a bun with a mate and I hefted 500kgs of giant rocks around the pond... well, that bit wasn't too relaxing but it had to be done. It'll be interesting in the morning to see if I can actually move...

Baron von Wonka knows a bloke that runs a aggregate business so that's how they arrived. Conveniently though I see that it was arranged for the middle of the week when the geezer himself is back in his own county and everyone else is at work. It was just me and the soppy looking DogOfNOTA to sort it out, she wasn't much help.

Now then, I've just seen this posted on the G+ and I feel another trip to London and amusing photo opportunity coming on.
The next person I e-mail better get themselves a return ticket to St Pancras and an unfashionable hat. Ahh, it's idle adventure time again. 8)

Heh, his mum wouldn't recognise him by that name though I expect. An amusing but actually quite normal chap which makes a nice change.

Right, not a lot happened today. Work, petrol hoarding, home, sewing. Not that I like sewing that much but I saw something called "Pond Pockets" on my interweb travels and although a fine idea I'm not paying £25 for some material with a pouch on the end. So, after some brainwork ( ) I decided a small roll of that black weed supressing material and a bit of fishing line thread and I can make loads of "pockets" and it's cost me £4. 8)

Reserved some items at one of the chunky DIY stores while I was at work but I couldn't be arsed to get the stuff. I'll get it after work tomorrow... after lifting all those stones yesterday wrestling six bags of concrete into the car wasn't on my list of popular things to do on a Thursday afternoon.
It's a bit much when a girl has loads of chap mates and has to lug her own concrete about... :protest:

I did however buy some string.

There is a reason but it's on a need to know basis... do you really need to know??

I thought not.

Heh, will be the busiest day in the calendar for space caydets and a happy forum full of alien spotting boffins. But, it won't get proper chaotic until later on... n00bs always poke about in unexpected places. It's all good.

Also the birthday of the space cat... 8)

Limping off to kip... one with a cut hand and broken nail and one with the world's tiniest blister. Really, it's so tiny as to be almost invisible but made up to hugemongous size by the power of imagination. Going for the sympathy vote I reckon, awww.

Blimey, there was paint, there was cement... there was much swearing at fence posts and not a little grumpiness (maybe too much sun). There was sending people out for pizza and there were terse looks at the spangle next door (even though told not to he insisted on "helping" by digging F****** overly massive fencepost holes which muggins here had to then allocate more than the calculated amount of cement mix to fill  ).

I have approx two tons of crap in a skip lurking on my driveway and my hair has a strange tint of mahogany decking stain. A week they said I can have the skip... bollox to that it's full to the brim if not more already, the chances though of a prompt removal are probably slim knowing how slack skip emptying is at work.
As for the decking stuff, I perused the instructions this morning over breakfast (like you do) and amongst the gems of wisdom for this outdoor paint is the statement "use in a well ventilated area".

Well F*** me sideways... the outdoors seemed ventilated enough to me, I was at a loss on how to improve the situation. :rotflmao:

Ahh well, fencing half done... only minor chaos remains to be tidied up. It's looking a lot better already though. :P

Goodnight indeed.

I have lowered the tone of the neighbourhood by parking my car on the road and not my driveway... oh the shame.

Oh what a load of bollox, this is after the new "boyfriend" of the woman down the road started spitting the dummy out. The people that were out & about and saw this muttered amongst themselves that after all it's a public road and the mad bloke has no right to a "space" outside his house (their driveway has two cars on already now) and the fact he had to park his other car mere feet away from where it normally is was not a cause for concern for normal people. They all seem shocked that this bloke has appeared from nowhere and is throwing his weight around. :?

Anyway, if the skip is still on my drive tomorrow despite their assurances that they're "right on it" for collection the choices are...

A- park my car near his house again (bit dodgy)
B- park my car further away (I don't like being parted from my transport)
C- park it across his drive in a provocative manner and get the boys round to duff him up if he gives any more aggro useless w***** that he is... sodding n00b needs to realise this isn't a city and he is just a bloke not the Godfather of a little road in Crapshire. :hammering:

Meh...

I shall go to sleep now... and I don't expect to find surreptitious fondling going on while I'm kipping.

Get this.....here, garbage pick up day is called public service day. The municipal leaders, in their limited mental capabilities, passed an ordinance, that any car parked on the street on these days, would be ticketed!!! Sure enough, I backed my car out of the garage, and wasn't there a parking twat on the prowl. He cruised past kind of slowly, and I just stood there staring him down. He hit the gas pedal and took off! They said that after the garbage trucks, the street cleaners would do their thing. Those cunts never showed up, so we are waiting for one of the neighbors to get a ticket tomorrow, even though it is not a public service day!

You're lucky in a way, though we know roughly what day the binmen arrive (though it's a gamble which of many recycling bins they're after) the road sweepers are like rare creatures that appear once in a blue moon and because of that no-one knows when to move cars... what you see is a massive wavy line of "clean" where the sweeper has weaved in & out of the parked cars.
Do you have to pay a government type tax for this or is it a private sort of company that does the cleaning duties...?

My last boss (he's from US too) went to jail for a while here for "accidentally" bumping over a jobsworth traffic numpty that stood in front of his car to give out a parking ticket. Must be a tough job the world over... :boohoo:

In garden news my jokes some weeks ago about making a sort of "Peckham Spring" for the pond have been realised but alas it's about forty feet away from where it should be. A hole dug for one of the fenceposts yesterday (now popping them up one a day) was full of water, and this was before the rain.

On scooping it all out the water just gradually came back. Hole's too far from the house for water-main pipe and only about eighteen inches down. No-one knows why just this one hole is waterlogged, none of the others were like this. Anyway a concrete post went in and a bag of cement stuff went on top, saved me having to put the water in... we shall see what the next post hole reveals.

It's all excitement here... maybe I do have a well out there. I shall be self sufficient after all... hurrah.
