Depends on age and who is making the decision to wear what they are. For example if a teen decided to wear black leggings without any coverage around her hips, do the parents tell them how to wear there tight pants or is there difference then wearing tight jeans?
Is it wrong for 35 year old lady to wear knee high boots or should she leave it to trendy younger girls?
Can any women wear thong swimwear at the beach no matter there age?

To me seeing celebrities such as Cher and Madonna who have great bodies look better then anytime in there life stop them to wear what is considered inappropriate attire. If Cher wants to wear sheer nylon body stockings and show her bum in a thong, why not if she looks good. Some men argue enough already seeing she is 60 years old and no man is turned on with older women pretending to look hot when we know her age. My thinking is wear what you find that you like even though some say no. Only reason for this age appropriate restrictions is men see a 70 year old women in great toned shape and wearing sexy clothing and looks at her face which is old and wrinkled which turns them off.
Same way when men or women see someone lean and toned in skinny tight jeans thinking from the back they look nice. Once skinny jeans person turns around and they notice it is a man a turn off or laugh at how tricked they were hating them for wearing skinny jeans like a women.

What people believe is when someone is young they are attractive and sought after and can get away wearing anything no matter how weird. Teen skater boys can wear skinny jeans without looked upon as weird only maybe young a naive. While better shape older 40 year male wear skinny jeans and be laughed at thinking he wants to look like justin beiber.

It's other peoples inhibitions of being older and in poor shape that drives this age inappropriate label. Know of older aunt who wears casual jeans but other aunt little older, dislike her taste of wearing jeans like she was 16 again. Sometimes people have a concept of what we all should do with our lives and how we live it. So if you agree with that, then you should follow the rules of age appropriate attire. I won't but that's me, never want to follow trends but make them.
Love it tanned and toned.

I am new to this forum and would love to have my opinion. I feel that you should wear what you want as long as you feel comfortable in it, as long as it is not over the top.

I say it's age appropriate. I'm in my early twenties and I still have a small body for certain clothes,

but I try to dress my age., (does that make sense)? :?

Let take a guess: Black leggings , American Eagle tight jeans, UGG boots, white long stretch cotton ribbed tank top?

For me, appropriate dressing has to do with what our bodies are like and what the circumstances are. Some of us don't seem very good at choosing clothes that suit our shape and frame. Then there is appropriate dressing for different circumstances, and this can be a challenge as well, I find.

I think clothes should be suited to your body shape. It does not depend on age.

Really large women simply don't look good in leggings regardless of age and there must be many more similar examples.

Yes I think clothes should be age appropriate but who will decide what clothes are appropriate for a certain age. If you say that a 18 year old should not wear reveling clothes and a 19 year can wear those things that it will be really hypocritical. Also some people criticize designer clothes for kids but again who will make the rules about it.

now if my wife wasnt in good shape then i would not recommend it. . to me it comes down to what shape your in rather than your age. i see 20 and 30 somethings girls that are not in good shape wearing tight mini skirts and its not a good site.

What about gender appropriate clothing any comments? Such as woman wear exclusively dress or skirt and men shorts or pants no matter how tight or short...

sylviaeasley20 wrote:Well I think age is not as important as your body structure. Whatever may be your age select the clothes which are suitable to your body type. Now-a-days Women Clothing has shown enormous improvement and one can find clothes for any size. So, selecting the appropriate clothes as per your body type is important and apart from this you should also be able to carry off that dress pretty well.

Agree with this. And wearing clothes that you like is important, too.

I am completely egress with you that people have to mange their dressing and fashion prospect according to their age. Some people mismatch their fashion and style with respect to their age and it may ruin your image and personality.

To me, there's nothing worse than seeing a 50 year old women, dressing like she's 17. It looks desperate and it looks like they have ZERO authority. Especially if they combine the teen clothing with pink lipstick, fake tan and blonde extensions.

That is just my opinion though.

I'm in the opinion you should wear whatever you like. Not lay down hearing fashion snobs criticizing your attire.
Many young teens and young adults have terrible bodies but insist to wear clothes that almost all of there peers wear as trends shift.

Whatever your heart desires wear it not because someone told you its not age appropiate. If your body is fit, toned and lean there shouldn't be a problem what you wear ever. If your putting on weight and look puffy or not considered athletic looking then wear something little less revealing...
When women are wearing clothing not revealing there shape usually there is reason for it not because of age...
