At the time of The Labour Party election to find a replacement for Gordon Brown if a newspaper had run a headline saying "don't vote for Diane Abbott, choose a white leader" it would have been in trouble and quite rightly so.
Dan, please answer this; Is rap music racist with the abundant use of "nigga" this and "nigga" that? I think it sometimes is, as well as sexist and homophobic Is Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes racists when they use it in their stand-up acts? Sorry I've no idea who they are
Is "cracker" racist? Is "honkey" racist? C'mon, answer please. I truly want your opinion.
Honkey, yes I think so, I don't understand cracker in that context.
You never spoke up when Lena called black Republicans "Uncle Toms". Why is that? Isn't that 'racist'? Or is it only racist when it's applied to certain people? Every one of the conservative members in this thread took issue with her for using it. NO ONE to the left, or you guys from across the pond said anything about it.![]()
There is an unpleasant term sometimes used here - wigger, I suppose it's a bit like the white version of Uncle Tom, which refers to white people acting as though they are black. BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has been called that, which may also be racist since it's purely because he plays a lot of music of black origin.
None of this stuff is set in stone and there will always be an argument about what is and isn't racist.
Please don't shy away or ignore my questions. I really want to hear both sides of this because from where I sit, I see double standards.
You don't know who Chris Rock is?

I've heard "Wigga", but not often. I don't think it's malicious. White teens calls each other nigga all the time. Black teens call them 'nigga' too. I really don't think those who use it are truly racist. More likely than not, those kids don't even see color. They are of a different generation and they can laugh at themselves... which I find healthy. In the south, many of us are racially confused anyway. Gays here call each other 'queens' and 'fags'... and "girlfriend". I think these people are happy in their skins and they don't give power to silliness.
"Cracker" is a white person. It doesn't offend me. Being called a squaw doesn't offend me either, even when people tell me I should be offended.
