ive been cerezette for 16months now ! doctor advised it because of my age and having slightly high blood pressure ! hated it to begin with i seemed to have greasy spotty skin and lank greasy hair but the doctor said to give it a chance for a few months ! also had pregnancy symptoms such as tender breasts ! anyway 16 months on ive not had a period but ive done pregnancy tests and the doctors says thats fine as long as im taking it properly and not to worry ! on the whole i love not having periods no mood swings depression or anything but get back ache from time to time and my ribs kindof ache but the only bad side effect is the horrendous tender breasts which seems to be getting worse ! its a case of do the good side effects out weigh the bad ones ? also lost about half a stone within a few weeks of starting taking it ! any advice would be appreciated and if anyone suffers the same bad side effects as i am x

I'm on cerazette for year and a half and had no periods all this time. i looked at cerazette website and they do say u can have no periods at all. I'm pretty happy about it and don't need to think about all the equipement for periods or leaks. no problems with health or depression. and it stoped my migranes.

I've been on Cerazette for almost 3 years now, never had any periods the whole time (apart from the odd spotting when i missed a pill). The last few weeks however I have bled twice, just a few weeks apart, but I think this is normal. After three years of pretty much no bleeding i'm sure my body is ready to get rid of something! haha!
I would say Cerazette does lead you to put on weight, but hearing from many friends who are on various different pills, this is normal with most types of pill, i just have to make sure i watch what i eat, other than that im happy with it!

Oh and for those people who have been on the pill for 1-2 months and are expecting thier periods to stop but they havent yet, give it a bit longer!! It takes some time for your body to get used to it and the side-effects of any pill are always worse in the first month or so, but you have to stick it out and not give up so easily!
Admittedly this wont be the same for everyone, for some people the effects will obviously be different, but from my own experience and hearing from others who take cerazette you need to be a little bit more patient. i would say give it 3-4 months and then decide! :)

Been on Cerazette since 2006. Periods stopped completely but came back 4 weeks after I stopped taking it ( got worried that I wasn't having any periods)
Never had any problems with it - get it from family planning &they advised that it was completely normal to stop having periods while on any type of pill/injection/implant - your own body would decide.

Re: the pill...cerazette

Postby LalarS » Mon Mar 19, 2012 2:57 am

I've been on Cerazette for around 5 months now but am needing some advice on changing the time I take it? I usually take it around 1am when I go to bed but due to a couple of accidents when I was so tired I fell straight to sleep and forgot to take it (idiot I know but was fine) I want to change it. So I want to take it around 6pm instead to avoid this happening again.

I've read people say wait till you've had a break and take the new pack at the new time but obviously I don't have a break so what shall I do? Any help or advice please? =)

Hi Girls,

I have been on Cerazette for nearly 2 years and have never had a bleed. I was prescribed it because I have a heart condition but have been told I can have the combined pill. Does anyone know how long your periods take to come back? and if they are more painful because you havn't had them for ages? I'm beginning to think maybe it isn't healthy to not have them even though it is way easier not to have them! I have gained weight, get really spotty and I do get hair loss sometimes. Any ideas?

xx

I'm unfortunately one of the people that Cerazette just doesn't suit. I had the usual fake pregnancy symptoms and constant bleeding for the first two months, then things seemed to settle down for a week or so. Then came the rest of the side effects: bloating, increased appetite, tiredness, greasy face and hair, spots, excess sweating and a constant non-specific anxiety. Oh, and my hair started falling out in handfuls. Now on gedarel and even two days in I'm feeling much better.

Having said all that, I have two friends on Cerazette who love it so if in doubt, give it a few months to see how your body handles it.

Hi. I have been in cerazette for 7 months now. All throughout ive had evil periods but in the last six weeks it's stopped. I don't think I'm pregnant as I have no other symptoms besides the lack of period.

Has anyone had this?

(I have a doctors appointment booked this is more for peace of mind)

Hi All
I've read alot of comments on here about this pill and to be honest it did make me really cautious & negative about starting it but i though i'd give it ago as I was prescribed cerazette as i was starting to get migrains on the combined pill femodene that I was on. I'm just over a week in on cerazette and feeling ok, a few mood changes but that's more sensitivity but today I have started getting a slight back ache which i'm hoping won't get worse, my period did fall into place from when it would have been as i would have been on my 7 day break from my old femodene pill but hoping it won't last forever and kick into a routine. The only thing that worries me because you don't get a period on this pill how do you know that your not pregnant? I'm hoping I won't get any weight issues but as a few people have said on here that is with most pills and watching what you eat.
Anyone else new to this like me and experiencing different things?

I'm on my fifth week of taking Cerazette (after swapping immediately from Microgynon without leaving the week for the period) and have found that I haven't had a period for the last two months.
Up until today, I was over the moon about this until a friend pointed out this could mean I was pregnant - despite knowing that Cerazette can stop periods completely.

However, my experience with Cerazette seems to be very different to friends and family who have taken it as they had continuous periods and eventually had to be switched to another contraceptive pill.

I don't know if this is helpful, but its just an insight in to how people react differently to the pill :)

Ok, so I read this discussion post a while ago and it cleared my mind about Cerazette knowing I wasn't the only one it was affecting.
I ran out of the pills the other week, and went back to get some. I was told all stuff about this pill that I'd been taking for a year, that I'd never been told, so thought it may be useful to send it this way too:
• You don't have periods on this pill. What you do have is a hormone release.
• The pill doesn't release an egg.
• Because you don't have periods, you won't know if you're pregnant. The only way for you to get pregnant is for you to release an egg, which would happen by missing a pill. So it's advised to take a test every so often.
• Some women have no shows, some have constant, and some have various. There's no set date, like I said, because you're not having a cycle.

At the age of 18, sitting in a room being told that you won't know if you're pregnant really freaked me out. I'm a safe pill taker so I knew I couldnt be, but had to take a test any way just to put my mind at rest. I was asked if I wanted to change pills, but said no because although it's mucked me about, I'd rather not go mucking my body further by swapping pills and hormones around ... I have enough hormones to deal with at my age!

I hope this has cleared some things up for people who were worrying :)

Re: the pill...cerazette

Postby Alundra » Wed May 23, 2012 5:42 pm

Hello everybody!

I usually try not to get medical help _, but I'm desperate and would be really grateful if people can help me with some advice/information on what they did.

I (27 years old) have started taking cerazette in January 2011, so 1.5 years ago. As many others, I had to switch from the combined pill because of occasional migraines.
I never got very heavy mood swings (I think) or pain, but constant (!) brown, sometimes red discharge. Apart from the odd day, I have always had to use protection for the past 1.5 years and it's driving me mental, it really is. Why I didn't switch earlier? Cause the doctors kept saying that each body is different and takes its time getting used to changes and I wanted to give it a chance. Looks like my body doesn't want to adapt, though, and while my boyfriend is incredibly understanding, I personally can't stand it anymore.

My question is to those who switched from Cerazette: What did you change to and has it been successful?
My doctor can only tell me the other options, but not what the best would be, and I know that nobody can say anything for certain, but I just hope to find out as much as possible from the experience of others before getting a coil for instance (which I really wouldn't be looking forward to).

Sorry for not reading through all the previous posts (it's a very long thread) and thank you inadvance for your time and help!

Have a lovely evening everybody!
Alundra
