Brad Pitt gets a Gospel Tract

Postby ballerina » Sun Apr 15, 2012 5:07 pm

A christian actor on the set of Moneyball gave Brad a gospel tract at the end of the day's filming, Brad didn't know what it was at first and said he would read the back of it later. A week later the christian guy got fired with no explanation and has been blacklisted in the industry ever since.

This video footage tells the story on an evangelical christian television network where the guy tells his story. The Brad Pitt part starts at 20.00 minutes in.

Its crazy how he is violently rejecting christianity (or any other religion for that matter). I dont have a problem with atheists, he can be whatever he wants but why did he fire the poor guy? He could have just tossed whatever he was given if he didn't like it.

The entire hollywood needs Jesus :|

Brad said it himself, he made a deal. He has proclaimed his allegiance, like all loyal believers.

There was a time he "joked" that he made a pact with the devil. Sometimes, your subconscious speaks louder than reality. i believe he wasn't joking at all.

I'm an atheist and would be offended by the pushiness, intrusion, insensitivity and arrogance of someone coming up to me with the intention of trying to "save" or "evangelise" me. I'm not surprised Pitt was pissed off with him. Your choice of religion or spirituality or lack thereof is an entirely personal matter. That does not, of course, excuse the fact that this man was sacked, if it was for his clumsy attempt at "enlightening" Brad, or for his being blackballed. If Pitt resented his actions, he should have politely told him that he (Brad) was not religious and advised him that a film set was probably not the best environment for him to try and save souls. It is bad form, rather like bringing your personal problems to work in the sense that it is a private issue which is inappropriate to off load onto your co workers.

I know that Brad has made some comments about religion and the fact that he disagreed with some of the hypocrisy he saw there and the unfairness. I do wonder if there is something deeper behind his reaction to it though.

I do agree that a film set is not an appropriate place to try to share a gospel message with someone even if it was done in a kind of humourous way. I got no problem with respecting other people's beliefs or non-beliefs and being appropriate about it. I don't think though that this guy should have been fired the way he was, he could have been given a warning not to do it again, at the very least there was no need to blacklist him, that is going overboard.

It reminds me of when this man was gonna take his daughter to an Alanis Morrissette concert, something his daughter was really excited about, his daughter became ill and couldn't go to the concert, her father worked at a hotel and it was the same one Alanis was staying in, he was on the elevator with her and quietly asked her if he could have her autograph to give to his daughter, he was fired after that for what he had done, he had worked in that hotel for many years but Alanis complained and got him fired. Are these things really necessary to do when they have millions in the bank and many people are living paycheck to paycheck.

I think Brad's anger on this issue is obviously related to his christian upbringing. Maybe things like getting that gospel tract enraged him because some tiny part of him feels guilty for having left the flock if he was ever in the flock to begin with. He seems to despise christianity for reasons deeper than I think he has ever admitted to publicly.

He wasn't joking at all, he admitted he has a pact with the devil. Mick Jagger said something similar in interviews several time, like he had sold his soul to the devil and that's why he got rich and famous and that he was not joking at all.

So Brad got all excited looking at fake money with his face on it. This man is such an egotistical money Wh0re. Also, if he hates god so much than why is he going to get marry? Marriages are blessed under GOD and are traditional Christian values. Yeah, that makes perfect sense, he is going to get marry under god, his public enemy number 1.

I'm sorry but what that extra did was inappropriate. It's similar to when people hand scripts or pitches to an actor during work. He was on set! Work hours is not the appropriate time to preach the Gospel.
