Warren Littlefield, NBC's former president of entertainment who's brought us small-screen gems like "Seinfeld," "Friends" and "Frasier," remembers taking a huge gamble on Jennifer Aniston and convincing Debra Messing to do “Will and Grace."

"[It's] 10:30 p.m. at night on Sunset Boulevard," Littlefield tells me on the set of "New York Live." "I’m at the Chevron station gassing up and Jennifer is over at the other island and she comes over and she says, ‘Is it ever going to happen?’ and I say, 'We believe in you, I love you, I so believe in your talent, I’m sure it will.' A few months later, we handed her the 'Friends' script."

But it wasn't quite so simple. Littlefield said that at the time, Aniston was under contract for a CBS series, "Muddling Through." But NBC went ahead with Aniston -- a move that could have "cost us millions of dollars to reshoot." Soon CBS yanked the flailing show, allowing Aniston to officially move forward with "Friends."

Wow. A gamble that surely paid off. Not only did they get a hit show but she was one of the most popular characters on the show. Not to take anything away from the talent of the other castmembers but it's the truth. Nobody else could have fleshed out Rachel the way Jen did. It's no wonder these movie makers are still willing to take gambles on her today. She's just good at what she does and those who have the eyes to see it, see it clearly.

The song is actually a nice song and no name is even mentioned or anything that should be private mentioned so for them to imply that it's the reason she would skip is just plain idiotic. It seems like the media has ran out of ideas. Why do they go cuckoo when she is on the low? It's also a shame that it just can't be accepted that she wasn't feeling well. They do that because Jen is a huge draw. She brings the web-clicks and she sells the magazines. All they really have to do is put a pic of her with any bogus headline (which they've been doing for years) and bingo! Instant sales spike. It's crazy that she can't even be sick according to the tabs. As far as they're concerned it MUST be a cover for something or that's the seed they want to plant in people's minds so that they can sell the crap headlines tomorrow. Really, those journalism school rejects come up with the silliest things.

I am not a loon but i think that jen and justing are on a break or broken up. The last few weeks no sightings of them together at restaurants like before. The sighting of justin alone in ny without jen. It's just a feeling that i have but i could be wrong.
I actually wouldn't mind if they broke up because i don't like them as a couple but that's just a personal opinion but If they are together and happy good for them.

I'll believe they're broken up if and when that is proven as fact. Personally, I'm cool with anyone who makes Jen happy. It's a fan thing. If he's not 'the one' for forever.. no biggie.. he's the one for right now and that's all that matters. I love the fact that they're out of sight. They both value privacy and i'm glad they got some. I don't believe that tweet about him being in NY simply because he could never, at this point in this particular relationship, walk through NYC and only one person sees him?? Not one paparazzi catches sight of him? Not one cell phone pic from another person on the street? No way. Not in this city. I guarantee you that 10 minutes after that tweet there were paps outside his spot. Anyway I hope Jen gets better soon.

They actually broke up around wanderlust promo I remember the tone of this people in the blogs and her peeps posting every dude who f*** her pictures.... They decide to wait until everything is done but the jp annoucment change the whole story. And but still the annoucment will follow some time this year that is what my guess is...
But I don't think this no show is nothing got to do with the break up.

Apparently the NYDN updated it's original story about Jennifer's absence after talking to Huvane:

JENNIFER ANISTON creates buzz even in her absence. On Wednesday, the eternal beauty was scheduled to accept an award at the Television Academy Honors ceremony on behalf of “Five,” --the breast cancer movie anthology that she produced and helped direct--but on Tuesday she dropped out.

Noting that the cancellation comes in the wake of Tuesday reports that John Mayer's new song "Shadow Days" is about his break-up with the "Horrible Bosses" beauty, one insider says Aniston was feeling ill at the prospect of being peppered with questions on the subject.

Aniston’s spokesman called our story “ridiculous” and said Aniston was never scheduled to walk the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

We hear otherwise: our insider says a security detail was supposed to escort the “Horrible Bosses” hottie along the crimson gauntlet. “Everyone here is really disappointed she’s not coming, including Academy members,” said our source, who added the event would have been a good time for Aniston to promote “Five” for Emmy consideration.

I will say that the last point they make is probably true - it would have been a good opportunity for Jennifer to promote Five for Emmy consideration because I'm sure a lot of Academy members were in attendance. It's unfortunate, but sickness happens, and there isn't much you can do! They seem to be backing off the Mayer thing a bit - because to me that's the most absurd reason they could invent for her absence. I'm surprised they didn't suggest something else!

I agree with this. If that tweet was accurate and Justin is in NY it's suspicious. Why leave her side before an event and during an illness. It could be nothing of course. It could be a soon to be resolved fight. But IF they're breaking up this would be the absolute worst time to announce. Far better to lay low and let the press figure it out on their own.
