Get over yourself. What on earth makes you think any gay person gives a rat's ass about sticking it to a bunch of ignorant hicks who belong to a cult headed by a bunch of child molesters?

Yes, the Catholic church is the barometer on which all organized religions should base their conduct.

Actually, no. The whole gay marriage thing started because gay people wanted to be able to visit their partners in the hospital and make medical decisions for them. And then there's the whole next-of-kin thing. Committed couples want their shared assets, the wealth they've built together over a lifetime, to be there for each other, not some distant relative who hasn't spoken to them in in thirty years. "Sticking it" to Christians has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's all about being family.

+1

I don't get why those opposed to legalizing gay marriage can't understand this.

Hi ! I'm the poster number 2 here. The main reason I am not for this, is that wedding, the very term wedding, is intended as a sacremental given by a priest under the assumption you follow the church's rules. This sacramental goes with specific graces intended to help you going through your vocation of married couple as well as possible, until sanctity. The legal aspect of that is a different question. Of course, one is free to reject the faith and the rules given by the church and i don't judge that -although i think it is sad-, but in that case if some legal protection is to be given by the society it should not be called wedding I believe. :)
What about hetero couples who choose to go down to city hall and get married by a judge, or fly to Vegas and get married by Elvis? Should they be allowed to invite people to their weddings, or should that privilege be reserved only for those who choose to be married in church, by a priest?

You're not answering very nicely while I was sharing my opinion peacefully. Imo wedding is the sacramental, and the legal part of it is just a legal matter for the heteros as well. Your sayings are kind of accusing me of a way of thinking I have not shown.

Now that is a lesson of tolerance: ''bunch of ignorant hicks'', ''child molesters''.

And legal rights. That has been what marriage boils down to. Just ask the ancient Egyptians.

would never say something that ignorant garbage about complex ethical moral philosophical biological and legal issue as this!

globally every day women who cannot gain access to safe abortion services are seriously injured or die as a result of their inability to access safe abortion services

womens reproductive rights must become a basic part of the human rights

Hey 13, long time no see. Hope all's well? I rarely comment these days, but have decided to wade in a bit on this one. En route to work in central London, I regularly pass a Marie Stopes clinic. Every day, there are protestors (generally middle-aged men), who chant and pray, surrounded by plastic embryo's , bibles and rosary beads. And every time I'm disgusted by the palpable judgement and ignorance. I always wonder why they don't have something more productive and valuable to contribute to society. Unsurprisingly, I absolutely support the woman's right to choose; and whilst agnostic, have no interest in subscribing to any organised religion.
Anyhow, rant over.

Keep marriage as traditionally defined as being between a man and a woman. If same sex couples what the the same legal rights and protections call it a Civil Union and not a marriage. The ceremony will also not be performed in a church as a religeous ceremony.

:?
I don't get how gay couples function.
Especially lesbian couples where one of the partners looks more feminine and the other more masculine.
If you are a lesbian that means that you fall in love with women. Then why do some so-called lesbians fall in love with women who have manly traits?
If you like women why do you find masculine looking women attractive?

I agree with you but gays will not accept this. They are the ones thrusting their beliefs down our throats. My Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman and I don't respect anyone trying to rewrite that. I am Catholic.

My feelings are biased with respect to same sex couples.

I have a great difficulty viewing a male-male relationship in a favorable mannor. I was raised in an invironment where men did not show that kind of affection to one another. Also, I view penetration of another, with a penis, in such an inappropriate place to be disgusting.

On the other hand, I don't have a problem with two women showing affection toward one another. It was always normal to see two women hugging and kissing :bighug: :happylove: each other. Also, they are able to show passionate affection :tounge: to each other without having either the ability or need to sodomly penetrate one another with a penis.
