School Holidays

Postby AlabamaAlice » Wed Mar 17, 2004 2:44 am

can anyone give me some advice please?

i recently booked a week away on the 3rd may for myself, and family and friends.

when i picked my daughter up from school she said that she handed her holiday form to her teacher and the teacher said to her "the headmistress isn't going to be too pleased!"

then my daughter said about her sats.

after speaking to my friend who booked the holiday with me, he said that the kids are taking their sats from the 10th may (we go on the 3rd) and the letter he had from his sons school states that no time is to be booked, before or during these dates!

he said they are going to phone him in sick and not bother with a holiday form, but i've done one now and i'm worried that they will not give her the time off?

can anyone give me some advice please? i've booked and paid for the holiday now, so i don't want to cancel it.

we can't afford to go during school holidays, and i've never taken her out of school before, as we normally only go camping during the bank holidays, so this will be her first proper full weeks holiday since she was about 1!

will i get that £100 fine thing, what's the worst the school can do?

any advice would be great!

thanks!

If they don't authorise it, do as your friend and phone your kid in sick. There is nothing they can do then to prove otherwise.

I personally think schools stick their noses in where it isn't wanted, loads of people can't afford and can't get holidays in the school holidays.

One week off school isn't going to do your daughter any harm.

Not only that the price of the holidays out of term time out unacceptable high compared to term time.

So unfair
