How about perms on men

Postby gimps » Mon Jul 10, 2006 9:09 pm

Is it alright for a man to perm his hair to achieve a certain style?

Why should it be any different than short hair for women?

My guy in curls

Postby Sherri » Wed Jul 12, 2006 11:08 pm

My BF has beautiful shoulder-length brunette hair with blonde highlights and I've wanted him to curl it for along time. Finally last week he agreed to let me set it in my hot rollers. (He looked soooo cute in rollers  ). It looked great, kinda Elizabethan, when I took it down, and surprise! He loved it!

I don't like perms on girls or guys, but if you want curls why not set in rollers - doesn't matter your gender.

Next step is to get him to go to my salon -- my styliist is dyin to put him in velcro rollers and pop him under the dryer

It's only hair, you should have fun with it.

I think you might as well just perm it instead of goofing around daily with setting. You can always set on weekends for the fun of it, Does anyone agree with me. Should guys perm or not? If so, how curly should one go?

I think curly hair on men looks great as long as they are loose curls. So I think a loose perm on men would look fine.

Although I don't like tight perms on men or women.

I like curly hair on all people although I prefer it on men. Do other women prefer it?

Of coarse it is OK for a man to have his hair permed. Men should be encouraged to try new hairstyles and new looks as women do. I encourage my husband Jamie to try new looks, since we got together he has had his ears pierced and his hair highlighted both of which he loves now. I don't think he would want to have a perm though, he had curly hair as a child right up to being aged 13. Jamie told me when he was really young his mother would set his hair in rollers before bedtime and take them out the following morning to ensure his hair stayed curly. As he got older his mother took to the hairdressers where she worked and got his hair permed which he says he enjoyed until one time when one of his school friends saw him through the shop window wearing a flowery pink plastic gown having the last couple of perming rods put in before going under the dryer for a hour. He was teased about it for years afterwards being called gay and so on. Thankfully I think attitudes have changed somewhat today towards this sort of thing and men and boys can express themselves more freely without attracting derision from others. So I think if you think a perm is right for you then why not have it done after all if you don't like it will grow out. That is what I said to Jamie when I asked him to have his ears pierced and later his hair highlighted however he loves both although he hates the highlighting process but he likes the result

Does Jamie's hair syle cover his ears or are his earrings out there for everyone to see? Has anyone commented on his pierced ears?
