Nostril Piercing Questions

Hi,

I just wanted to see if anyone can answer a few questions about nostril piercings for me. Im a 30 year old male and my only previous piercings are 2 ear lobe piercings in each lobe.

1) Firstly I wanted to know whats the best way to get this piercing done, by a piercing gun, or with a needle and which hurts the least???

2) How long does this piercing to heal and after its healed properley, how long can I go without wearing jewellery before the hole will start to close, with my earrings I can go for months with no jewellery and then insert my studs without a problem, is this the same or would it close quickly???

3) What does it feel like having the post of a stud inside your nose, is it uncomfortable at all???

4) How would a stud stay in your piercing as Id assume its very awkward to get a back on a nose stud, so is a nose stud just an earring or are there special studs you can get for a nostril???

5) Is there any preferance for which nostril I should have piereced as a straight male???

6) What are peoples opinions of how an "average" looking guy would look with a nose stud (it will be a stud I have) as I dont like the look of rings in the nose and I intend to get either a small gold stud or a small zirconia maybe, do people think it looks ok on guys.

7) What is the opinion of having BOTH nostrils pierced, I initially intend to get just one nostril pierced, but I like things to look symetrical and so would it look ok to get a stud in each nostril or would that be too much, like I say, I have both ears pierced twice and so I would maybe want to consider both nostrils at some point.

I am a male who has both ears double pierced, as well as other piercings. I don't have my nostril pierced, however, I do have my septum pierced and love it!

Body piercing is one's choice, and in regards as to what to get pierced, that is your choice as well. I have seen pictures of guys with their nostril(s) pierced with CBR's (captive bead rings), and those with studs. In regards to the studs, they use a "nostril screw" where the stud itself is curved so that it will not come out. I have thought about getting my nostril pierced as well, but since I would not be allowed to wear it to work, I went for the septum which I can easily hide.

How long have you had your ears pierced? As far as leaving jewelry out and the hole closing up, it will shrink down in size if you remove the jewelry, but if it is well healed, it should be ok for a day or so, but I would not leave it our for long. I pierced my septum back in May and have gone 1 day without wearing a ring in it and it did shrink up a little, but with a little patience I am able to insert it without much trouble. My septum was pierced at 14 gauge and I have worn 12 gauge jewelry in it, but wear 14 gauge horseshoe most of the time.

If you want your nostril pierced, then go for it. I would try one first, then if you still want the other one pierced, go for it. Piercings don't dictate ones sexual orientation, so don't worry if you choose the right or left.

As for how you should get it pierced, definately stay away from a piercing gun and visit a tattoo/piercing shop and have it professionally pierced. They use "hollow" needles that are extremely sharp and create the proper opening.

I have had my nostril pierced for 3 years now and have absolutley no problems. I just thought that I would give you my opinion on an average looking guy with his nostrils pierced. NOT COOL, it doen't look good unless your name is Tupc ok, bud. Siorry you asked for opinions and that is mine. No hard feeling please.

Unless you are tupac, it's not cool especially on a 30 year old, are u going through a midlife crisis?? Sorry i was so blunt but i think i'm speaking for a lot of people who are too afraid to say, NOt COOL BUD!

Well, thanks for your input, but you are too late, I had my right nostril pierced 3 weeks ago, I now have a tiny gold stud in and the only comments Ive had have been positive.

Sorry you dont like guys with pierced nostrils but I do things for myself, I like it, I wear it.

Im glad I did this and blow what anyone else thinks.
