To what age should girls wear white socks?

It is for the parents to decide what age their daughters wear white socks but I agree with the other posts here that its unfair to keep a teenage girl in socks for school if all the other girls wear tights. She will be laughed at and teased and thats not right. When this is the case then let her wear tights for school and make her wear white socks 24/7 outside of school. I wore tights for school from 14 but my parents kept me in white socks at home to 16.

If Monika22 in MARRIED BUT IN SCHOOL UNIFORM is to be believed then it is still acceptable for a 22 year old girl to wear white knee socks. Would not think many other girls would agree with this!

I'm female and in my mid twenties and enjoy wearing schoolgirl uniform including white knee socks or white ankle socks usually with kiddies strap patent leather shoes or sandals. Whites socks look great with schoolgirl uniform and much better than tights although when the weather is as cold as it is now schoolgirls should be allowed to wear thick ribbed white tights.

I wore white socks for school and loved it but I had to wear tights after 16 as it was part of the uniform although I often wore socks outside of school after this age. To each their own.

I am 31 and happily married but I still wear socks, including white ankle and knee-length ones.
Sometimes it is through choice and sometimes as a penance!

If you are happy and comfortable in socks then wear them!

My daughter is 7 and I like her to wear knee high white socks, I think she looks cute and smart in her knee high white socks.

Around here school uniforms tend to specify navy, grey or black socks

However there is one other advantage of buying white socks over stripy or multi colored socks, they are so much cheaper. I pay £1 for three pairs, so when she goes out o play in the garden or kicks of her shoes in the park or on the beach it does not really matter to much.

I am regularly wear white ankle socks, I feel they show off my legs nicely especially when tanned.

I grew up in the 1980s and wore white socks for school until I was 14 and from then onwards black tights but my mum made me wear white socks at weekends and school holidays as a punishment whenever I misbehaved. I spent all of my summer school holidays when I was 17 in white ankle socks and flat shoes after being caught smoking and was subject to an 8pm curfew although dressed like this I did not want to stay out late. I was last punished this way when I was 20 and had to spend a weekend in white knee socks with black strap shoes and a grey pleated school skirt and white blouse. Humiliating but effective and I would use this type of punishment on my own daughter.
