i've just been circumcised on day 4 now and its not really painful its just annoyin, night time erections r the worst feels like ur dick is gonna explode. and its VERY sensitive when it rubs on ur boxers when u walk etc...not sure what my girlfriends gonna make of it either

but i think it looks better, although i was scared at first (didnt have it done through preferance, more an accident in bed

This is the first I've heard about your surgery. I don't know if you mentioned on the forum beforehand that you were planning this, as I would have shared my own circumcision experience with you.

I spent a few weeks pre-op with my foreskin pulled back, to get used to the sensations (or more accurately, overstimulation/rubbing/chafing of my underwear) prior to getting the snip. Thing is, my foreskin was only too happy to retract into place, so it took some creativity to get it to stay put.

As for those who complain about an uncircumcised penis being 'dirty', yes it's quite possible to wash it. In fact, this was one of my complaints about my own. That is, I could scrub-a-dub-dub in the morning shower till it was squeaky clean, but by evening the smegma would be back. Quite the drag. If I knew I was going to be intimate with a woman on a spur-of-the-moment basis, I would try to find time to go to a washroom and at least use toilet paper to try and clean things up one last time.

The smegma was merely a nuisance. I was rather partial to the aesthetics of being circumcised.

I was a little disappointed with the results, though. My urologist lopped off too much, and so things tended to be quite tight. In fact, during the post-op healing I would get nocturnal erections which were painful from pulling against the stitches; I would bleed a bit from the one side, they were pulling that much.

So if I were to turn back the hands of time and reconsider, would I still do it? Yes. But knowing what I know now, I would shop around and consult with different urologists. From what I've read on|ine since then, it seems the "high and tight" is the way to go. And quite probably done with a Plastibell, and not "freehand" with a scalpel.

It's a personal choice whether to get it done. I'm very glad my parents (who were both medical professionals at the time) left my bits alone, thus leaving the choice up to me.

I'll throw in some vaguely relevant material.

My first wife was a virgin when I'd met her (no, that was never a priority with me), and was somewhat naive about sexuality. As such, she was never predisposed one way or the other.

When I told her I wanted to get circumcised, she was still ambivalent, but she was fine with me getting it. That said, she had a girlfriend who was pretty adamant that circumcised was the only way to go.

It was about 5 years later that our son was born. Suddenly she was all gung-ho for circumcision, and pressed that point pretty hard. Since my own parents had been medical professionals and had decided to just let me and my brother remain intact, I was adamant that my son not be given the snip. I figure that when he's old enough, if he's interested, I'll gladly give him any info on the subject that I can.

Let's use tattooing as an analogy. I got a tattoo when I was well into adulthood, but I would never be so presumptuous that I would force my son to get a tattoo days after being born. That said, when he's an adult, I would be only too glad to share with him my knowledge and caveats to make sure that he goes into it as informed as possible, and doesn't do something silly like get a tattoo on his face.

But I digress.

The original point was the question regarding whether my first wife preferred circumcised or not. She had nothing to compare to, other than my 'before' and 'after'.

I think in Canada/USA, my sense is that most women prefer circumcised, although there are of course exceptions. In Europe, my sense is the reverse is true. I say this because I seem to recall reading something along these lines, either on a pro-circumcision or an anti-circumcision site.

I would actually like to see how many women here feel that the circumcised penis is somehow less pleasant to look at than an uncircumcised penis. Once the foreskin is retracted, the two are pretty much indistinguishable, save for perhaps a scar. But with the foreskin in place, I think it looks a bit like a miniature elephant's trunk.

If you go to the top of this topic, you will see that only 40% of members prefer the uncircumcised dick. It doesn't say why, but the result is still that only 40% prefer the natural dick. That's pretty conclusive; it's even more remarkable considering that these are UK women voting. I suspect the numbers would be even fewer in favour of the natural dick in America.

Good grief, that was almost 20 years ago. Lessee....

I would have to say I was probably at a reasonable point about 2 weeks post-op. I think. More or less.

And if there was sex at that point, it was probably somewhat tentative.

Basically you want the scar to be healed up to the point where the stitches are no longer present. And given that you're in a monogamous relationship, you're probably already "fluid bonded", so any tiny holes in the skin at the incision site (eg, holes from the sutures) might be a bit weepy but otherwise no big deal. Just be sure to clean things up adequately afterwards, without scrubbing it silly. Raw is just as bad as dirty.

Use a healthy dose of common sense. Maybe slather on some topical antibiotic ointment on a daily basis, at least once the stitches are out, if not sooner. Very definitely follow your surgeon's recommendations in this regard.

I would definitely say that a month post-op you should be in great shape. Just a guess.

Do keep me informed, as I'm interested to see how things progress.
