When are you too old to have a huge first wedding?

Postby Lhorna » Sat May 14, 2005 11:01 pm

I am turning 31 next month. I always thought that I would be married by thirty! Should I get in a hurry to find someone? When I do get married, I want to have a big wedding, but I do NOT want to look like the mother in law in my wedding dress. WHEN IS TOO OLD???!!!!!

31 is old to get married? Since when? My great uncle who is near 70 had a huge wedding. Seriously, you can have WHAT YOU WANT. If you want a big wedding, have it and enjoy it. You deserve it.

And I don't recommend finding someone with the objective to get married. It's not the status of marriage that you want, it's the feelings you get from it. Make sure it's with the right guy. Date a bunch of guys with no big expectations. But do your tests and try and qualify them. Make sure you get the guy you want.

No wonder many marriages don't work out.

You are NEVER too old! Weddings aren't about a fairy tale or a dress! They are a celebration of a committed union! I say go for it; an old lady doesn't have to wear a wedding dress out of Bride magazine

You are not too old you are only 31 but i understand what you mean society expects us to be married around 25 and a few children soon after i believe it is better to marry later on in life career wise see a bit of the world and in your 30's you have a better idea of what you want as opposed to in your 20's.

Please do not worry perhaps socialise more i wish you luck

I could not agree more!!!! I think by the time you are around 30 or more, then you have a sense of what you want in life and in a mate. You are more mature and better equipped to handle problems effectively.

Don't worry! At least you didn't make the mistake of marrying early, finding yourself, then realizing you made a mistake, only now you have 2 kids to worry about. Waiting is much better!

No, my main worry is not the dress. If you could reread what I wrote, my main problem is my age, and not being married yet. I was looking for honest input, not juvenile antics. So if you have nothing nice to say.......hopefully you know the rest.

Can you not read? The statement was "juvenile antics". By the way, this is a forum, where people are free to post issues that they would like feedback about. Please take your displaced anger to someone else's blog.
