Moira......The gentleman in question is only about 12 miles from where I live and I will be happy to make a donation to this cause. I couldnt believe the coincidence. Its a worthy cause and one which deserves help.

I might even attend the fun day in my kilt!

I too have had many instances where girls have wanted to see the secret of whats under as that seems to hold some fascination. Is he or isnt he. In the main however wearing a kilt is seen by most women and some men as being something they are pleased to see being revived. Most of the comments I have had are complimentary and the really good thing is that the last time I walked down the street in Glasgow I was amazed at the number of people mostly female who smiled and said "nice kilt" or "nice to see a man in a kilt again away from weddings." Ive had lots of conversations about it in the street. You are right its an acceptance thing and thats all.
Also I have worn the kilt in England on many occassions and have found it to be well accepted there.

Lets all hear the lyrics of the song when you find it. :)

Also if a kilt is worn properly and the wearer acts responsibly then you can go anywhere and be in any company in it. I hate to see people just lifting them up in full sight of children or ladies who may take offence. Thankfully that hasnt happend to me . Not yet anyway.

It's not a kilt, it's just a tartan towel! They sell them here and they look silly.

A kilt is a specific thing, not just any thing.

Men in Skirts

Moira wrote:I've already posted on here about why men don't wear skirts, or more to the point, why they stopped wearing them. It's not illegal, it's just despite a fairly free society, we are still narrow minded in it.

It was the industrial revolution that made them impractical for men. If women are of the opinion that men can't wear skirts, then how's about you women stop wearing trousers! More men regularly wear skirts than the number that play golf.

Some woman look silly in skirts, some men look 'cool'.

I have a friend who wears denim mini skirts, he looks ok. A short skirt is just like shorts without the bit in the middle! He has some of my old ones, and I buy him any one he fancies.

It's a case of sexual equality kicking in to suit certain people when it suits them.

Men can wear skirts, we are all born equal, nobody has the right to say what men and women should or shouldn't wear. Us women get all the choices, so why not men?

You are so right, it is narrowmindedness which causes all this fuss! I have set out, as my lifestyle, to show males (I consider myself a male "sissy" rather than a "man", but I'm still male), can wear skirts, dresses or anything else reasonably decent anywhere anytime. I live 24/7 in female clothing, but as a male! I don't try to "pass" as a woman nor even try to immitate one. I present as a male in a skirt! In fact, as I've posted on other forums here, I not only wear skirts and dresses all the time, but wear them exceedingly tight! Many of mine basically bind my ankles together! My fullest one gives me only 12 inches of stride at the hem around my ankles. My tightest ones give me NO stride and only permit me to "shuffle" my ankles back and forth about three or four inches. I do this both because I like the feel of that and the reactions I get. It makes my point more firmly that I can wear anything in public as long as it is not indecent!

men i n skirt

Moira,
You mentioned that due to the industrial revolution skirtwearing was no longer the habitual wear for men. Please note that due to horse riding men preferred trousers above skirtlike garments (15th-16th century).
Also, note that according to the BBC 4 report from 2002 globaly the majority of men still wears skirtlike garments.
In general/to all:
My experience/position. Yes I have tried on a skirt and appreciated the freedom. I can imagine that whilst driving a car it would be much more comfortable than trousers (riding up against the testicles). Also my urologist indicated that wearing wide clothing is preferable to restaining clothing.
Last but not least, if you look at the number of sites concerning this topic and compare such with the sites concerning women wearing tousers (other than leather) and also look back at the moment that Yves Saint Laurent (1958) introduced trousers for women and the ease with which these were accepted in daily life then only one question comes to mind, has the church brainwashed our minds in such an extend that something which was common is not to be consiedered as common anymore?

Thank you, I take it you mean my friend Andrew, he has really put a lot of effort into this charity run, and had a lot of broken promises to deal with. The biggest problem he has is people regard the subject of babies dying as 'taboo'. They just don't want to hear about it. He will be glad of any donation to this cause (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity)

As for 'the industrial revolution thing' I read it years ago, I never really have taken up reading about going further back. I do know that globally men wear skirts of some fashion.

The church can't condem men not wearing trousers, if they did, the good Lord himself would be unaccepted!

Againa kilt is a specific item, has been for thousands of years. The Germans didn't help be referring to Scottish soldiers as 'devils in skirts'.

to skirt or not to skirt, that is the question

Postby Novacasa on Mon Sep 03, 2007 11:40 pm

If you would study the book Genisis of the Grail Kings by Laurence Gardner, you would note that the Lord(s) was (were) some sorts of ET wearing skirtlike garments. Should resolve the matter with the Bible (all a matter of interpretation).

And under the skirts of the Devils was the snake eaten by Eve....

As for the legs, plenty of bicycling will get your legs into shape - for both us men and you ladies.

Bush,
You got it right! Some of us guys are more into it than others, but I've said all along, whatever you wanna wear, as long as you don't get obscene about it is OK! I admit, my interests are on the kinky side, but still I am careful to not be offensive in how I dress. Of course, to "some"
my wearing a skirt or dress at all is "offensive", too bad about that!! I'm always covered, decent and tasteful. Go for it..I did and I've never been happier!

The Human Rights Act puts us all equal, therefore no man or woman can dictate even what we should or not be able to wear. I wouldn't want my right to wear jeans taken away, so why should men be told what they should be able to wear or not. As soon as someone says 'it's a free country', you are almost simultaneously taking someones freedom away.

What will it be next, hair length? A boy I worked with was told to get his hair cut short, it was ponytailed. His reply was 'as long as all the women in here with long hair get theirs shortened too!'

There was no comeback. The rules said his hair should touch his collar, and being ponytailed the way it was, it didn't.

Are you trying to say all men in trousers are 'straight' and all men who wear skirts are 'gay'. You could reverse that, girls in skirts, boys in trousers...... The answer would still be 'no'.

Err, no...

Guys in skirts, etc.

Postby Sissie on Thu Sep 06, 2007 5:56 pm

Once again..Bush, you are right on the money!
Most folks seem to either not be aware, or choose to not accept the fact that most of us guys who dress in women's clothing are NOT gay! There is a fairly sizable group of us worldwide, it the internet is any indication,
who choose to take advantage of the freedom we have to wear what we like! Most of us do NOT act unseemly in public, do NOT go out of our way to embarrass anyone nor offend anyone. We just like to dress as we wish and go about our daily lives. We all realize we will be subject to some ridicule, embarrassment and possibly huiliation as a result of our lifestyles and we accept that. The general public is not yet accustomed to our ways! Hopefully, we will change that as time goes on. I, personally, have made it my goal in life to do just that! I openly live full time as a male in dresses and skirts, as you know. I push my "style" to what some may feel is an extreme level (the tightness of my skirts, etc.), but I am NEVER
radical nor untasteful in my appearance. I simply live the way I love and also, while doing so, let people see that I am really a person just like them with all the same joys, problems, and feelings they have. Keep on, keepin' on!

Most men do wear skirts

Postby Guest on Fri Sep 07, 2007 9:17 pm

I would suggest that over 95% of men in western society DO wear skirts and dresses quite often. The more-constrained of men might call them towels (eg at the beach, pool, or after a shower/bath), or dressing gowns, or something else, but they're still garments which hang freely from the waist and have nothing between the legs.
