That's a good point. IQ tests are geared towards the vocabulary and life experiances of white middle class anglo-saxon men. Blacks and Hispanics and Women in general do worse on the tests.

More to your point, a Pulitzer prize writer whoms years of experiance in the jungles of New Guinea should provide some respect towards this subject has repeatably stated that aboriginals are much smarter than the average white middle class anglo-saxon man. He bases this on their cognative skills and their memory abilities. He says he felt like an idiot sometimes in comparison.

It's what we all knew: men are smarter than women.

That is only a very small disparity and who knows if these tests may have been biased towards men. There have been previous studies by a professor Rushton, I found this information on another website:

'The author of this study, Rushton, is actually quite well known in academic circles as a total nutball. His previous work involved suggesting that blacks are dumber than whites, a racist claim that had no experimental proof whatsoever (as many scientists later dispelled this work). He was ostracized in the scientific community for making his "cold fusion"ish claim about racial differences in intelligence.

Now he's at it again, only to try his luck with sex differences in intelligence.'

Even if these studies are accurate and true, it would only take a little practice from the average women to equal the average IQ of a man or even exceed it. IQ drops if you do not continue to constantly challenge the brain. When I was in school, my IQ was around 140, now 10 years later it is 120, because I am no longer studying, but have just recently started learning Albanian to challenge myself.

I feel the main reason for these stats is that as women are still the main carers and are bringing up families, many are not exercising their academic intelligence skills as much as they could do, compared to their partners that may be in careers and intellictually challenging jobs. Obviously this does not apply to all women as more and more women are now more career orientated, for example I believe the majority of students now being acceptable into medical school are female have been for the past 4 or 5 years. For veterinary school, it is even higher, approximately 5:1 female to male and has carried on for longer. These are two of the most competitive educational fields.

I think the reasons for these stats are likely to be more social than anything else and chance probably are that women generally have a higher emotional intelligence than men.

Well again depends who you ask. In my math advanced math class i am second to a geek [who is also male]. In physics i am third to karin [who has no social life, and eric who is the nerd stated befor]. In english i am top of my class, for demand writing and creative writing...boosting my mark up despite my horrible poetry skills. Of course in french and modern history the top ranks are dominated by girls. So seems to me that again this goes with what i said earlier...our brains are different.

And just so you know girls should be able to outstrip me in all my class, by maturatiy rates they are two years ahead of me. They are acting like adults when i am still a kid, but how is it i am still top in so many classes?

Because you're an individual, and not the rule. I'm talking about the statistics each year showing that boys are falling behind at school - despite them being intelligent. It's because the changing curriculum and methods of assessment have been favouring changing to suit females rather than males.

It doesn't make me more of a women, or less of a man to call the test biased. The test has a long history of being unfair to minorities and women. I'm a man and I know the IQ test is biased.

The statistics claiming women do better in school are just as biased, if that makes you feel better.

It is true, despite my 94 gpa, girls seem to be higher up in the rankings.
I have learned from an early age to read and read and read. So i can process data simply and quickly from most things. Ignoring stupid stories and the such they use in our testing. The curricula in most countries have changed, and are now favoring girls. Math is done with huge word problem from grade 2+...it's all fun and such but it is hard to weed out the useful stuff. My friends who are jocks have this problem, and i end up tutoring more males then females. Like i have said elsewhere, either have two ways of explaining everything or make single gender core classes, unless advanced.
So wouldn't affect me but alot of my friends can get the help they need from those who are paid more then 5 bucks a day from the parents.

there is a difference between differentiation and stratification. when you make a judgement on someone and assign or imply a social rank to it (as intelligence obviously does), you help justify inequality and preferential treatment. The problem with this sort of "study" is that it is often used as a tool to justify that women are pigeonholed into certain dispositions beyond their own choice.
