Because you were just complaining that all the police were ALL WHITE MEN and it's well known that there aren't enough police officers who aren't white men (ie there's a shortage of both women as well as people who aren't white).

I didnt say all police were while males, I was just observing that all the police that came to the scene were white. The reason why there ar ehardly any women or ethnic people wanting to go into the police is because it is an institution and doesnt welcome women or ethnic....police need them there so they dont look racist. Even when women report rapes alot of male policemen dont take it seriously.

Try being a football fan then, As the club I support has a history of casuals and I tend not to wear colours to the game(casuals dress normal(ish)) me and my mates get treated like crap off police everywhere we travel, especially in glasgow.

You get in trouble for cheering when your team score or if you leave your seat during the game. You pay to watch a game of football and end up getting treated like your in a concentration camp off the Nazi polis.

My mate got lifted in Glasgow for flicking the 2 finger salute at opposing fans who had just scored, despite these fans singing songs about being up to their knees in fienian blood, it’s a disgrace.

People who go into the police, I reckon they were bullied at achool as kids and with that uniform it probably makes them feel they have control back in their lives.

A black guy on a bus going past pulled out a knife on another black guy...his mates and the other guys mates started fighting..the police arrive, they arrest the bad guy with the knife which was fine...about 5 police cars are here by now... so a big white van full of police turns up and jumps on the guy that did nothing at all and start grappling with him on the floor, he is fighting back cos he has done nothing wrong
Anyway EVERY black person is the area is out now shouting at the police...I was shouting too and we all start pushing towards the police..the start pushing back...more police turn up. There is about a crowd of 300 people now, NO LIE!!!! racial tension is rife and we are told we will all be arrested...my brother grabs me and now I am back at my desk... fkkin fuming...police are racist man. They was all white guys too....Im fukkin mad!

I dont know if this was because of race. I got nicked because coppers are ARSEHOLES. One accused me of being racist, I said something sarcastic, next you know, cuffs up my back. When I was in custody the delightful custody officer told me that while I was in there he would be shagging my girlfriend on the settee at home. When I tried to complain the next day, they conveniently couldnt find the duty rota.

I lost ALL respect for police that day. I speak as someone who has worked for the police as a civvy, someone who has considered joining more than once and someone who has worked with the police when I worked with young offenders. Now I look at them with utter contempt.
I'm Barry Scott.

If my son told me he was joing the police I would be shiit scared for him- in fact I would do everthing in my power to stop him. Before anyone says we need more "Ethnic" police, they can stop their noise. I've seen too many ppl go into the police force with high hopes and come out at best deeply depressed at worse totally fukked up

Well I guess people like Rodney King wished there had been a crowd when he was getting his cllaarrt beat down by a bunch of racist cops in the US. Its called looking out for one another.

Despite the fact that Rodney King is a criminal, and alleged wife beater who forced the police to persue him for several miles, the two situations are completely different.

Of course I'm not advocating police brutality, and suspect that his beating had more to do with his attitude than his colour, but somehow I doubt it's going to take 300 people to rescue the man you describe in your own situation. Who were they dealing with exactly? The Terminator?

So because he was a criminal he deserved to get the shite kicked out of him?
I have seen the Rodney King video, he was defenceless. He was beaten for the colour of his skin not because he had an attitude problem. I dont understand why you try and dismiss race so much. Im shocked you actually just wrote that Hells to be honest.

And I think you are completely missing my point. There were not 300 black males there, it was a mixed crowd. All the black people were shouting because he was treated so badly, even white people were shouting. You werent there to see it so I guess it is hard for you to pass judgement on it.

No. He didn't deserve to get beaten. I said I didn't advocate police brutality, which means I don't support it. I actually find it quite shocking that those hired to protect their community could abuse their power in such a way.

And I don't try and dismiss race at all - I'm just doubtful that it was the motive in Rodney King's case. Were any racial slurs used on the video tape, or were people eager to play the race card just because he is black? Wasn't one of the officers involved in the infraction of a Latino background? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that most groups intent on conducting race-hate activities tend to stick with people of their own colour.

Regardless of what happened, Rodney King is scum, and if he'd been white, then his news story would already be buried in the archives - along with the caucasians who met the same fate.

Hells Just because someone is of latino descent does not mean they cant be racsit to another race. It is not just white people that can be racist. ITalians dont like blacks, indians dont like pakisatni etc etc.

If he had have been white, he wouldnt have been beaten to death on that night. It has been prven to be a racist attack and it was obvious from watching the video it was racially intended.

Of course I realise that Latinos can be racist - what I said was that when victimising someone of a different colour, people tend to stick with those who share the same shade of skin.

And what has being beat to death got to do with anything? Rodney King is still alive, and he's not the only person to be a victim of police brutality. White people have also suffered in such a way - Rodney was just "lucky" enough to have his situation caught on camera.

1st point. Doesnt make any sense to me? How are latinos and black similar shade of skin tone? White people are just as similar to latinos as black people are. And I dont agree with that statement

However, point 2 I completely agree with. HE was lucky it was shown on video because other wise this crap would have kept going on and on.

They're NOT of a similar skin tone - that's my point!

And you still haven't explained to me why people decided the incident was racist. Educate me - please. Knowledge is power, and all that.

points on Rodney King, First I believe there is a history of cops beating blacks for no reason and secondly were the officers not found not guilty.
