Helle... the reason why his race was a big race cos it was proven that he was addressed by the N-word more oft than his name.
And the comparison between Latinos and Blacks makes no sense... Latinos can be racist towards black ppl and visa versa... two different races , two different cultures.

Whether Rodney King was a criminal doesnt even come into it, the fact the cra.p was knocked out of him and caught on camera was the issue.
Also if it was a white guy the poice would still have had to go to court.
And as for the police officers being found "innocent" did you see who the jury were made up of?????

Are there many non white police in the UK ? or all they all white males ? and do the polcie where the big hats like the guards ? i cant remember

I live in a predominantly white area, so I can't answer the question fully, but I believe the police are obligated to ensure they have a certain amount of ethnic minorities in the force.

Unforunately that says it all Helles. I live in a prodominately black area and the atmosphere is different to white areas for sure.
L:ve in my area for a month and you'll get what we are talking about. My boyf drives a convertible BMW. We get pulled over all the time asking him who he is, what he is doing etc etc If it was a white man driving round in a BMW they wouldnt batter an eyelid...

I don't appear to have made myself clear.

I know all ethnic groups can be racist toward each other - what I meant was that the said groups rarely mingle when undertaking their hate crimes.

Despite the fact that Rodney King is scum, I'm not disputing the fact that his situation was appalling. NO - he shouldn't have been beaten. YES - the police concerned should have been locked up. I know all that! I'm just questioning if their motives were racist in the first place.

As for King being addressed as n***** - did this actually show up on the video tape? From what I've read, King was too plastered to be sure if the police called him by that racial slur, or "killer" instead. If even the victim isn't convinced about what was said, then how can anyone else be?

A collegue said to me today "The blacks allways pull out the race card when in trouble with the police. This is because it's the black people causing all the F****** trouble!"

I have to say, I DO NOT dissagree.

oooooooooh Jesus. I don't even know where to start to respond to this. You got some statistics to back this kind of comment up? If not, then I'm wondering just how on earth you could possibly defend it.

OK, I'm sorry that you feel the need to be so hostile to someone you don't even know. I didn't think it was obvious that you didn't want to discuss it; you made a comment, its one I would take issue with. I could just give my alternative opinion and leave it at that but maybe dumbly I thought it would be worth trying to see if a discussion could be had.

You say you don't want to discuss it because of how these things end up - but I think if it ended up that way it might be because of the way so many debates here actually start, which is with a strongly held but completely undefended opinion.

Good post but anyway, who cares? Britain is f*cked and I'm leaving this god forsaken place. To be fair you can all go to hell and I'll see you there.

You can say what you think, think about what you say, like what you say and dislike what others say but allways remember, who gives a toss what you think in the first place?
Hate me or love me, who cares.
