The release of Bride and Prejudice has topped the UK chartsGurinder Chadha's Bollywood adaptation of Jane Austen classic novel Pride and Prejudice, which received mixed reviews from the press has bucked the criticism and taken the top spot in Britain and Ireland box office during its first week of release.The movie, starring one of the highest paid actresses Aishwarya Rai, and which features a number of trademark Bollywood dance routines amassed £1.7 million for the first weekend alone knocking the previous number 1 Wimbledon, which stars Kirsten Dunst into third position. The Resident Evil: Apocalypse, entered in the number 4 position. Another recent entry Matthew Vaughn's gangster film Layer Cake fell two places to number five starring Sienna Miller, Denzel Washington and Christopher Walken. The Motorcycle Diaries, based on the travels of Argentinian revolutionary Che Guevara, after dropping out of the charts re-entered at number 13.Movie Charts:- 1) Bride and Prejudice
